[QUOTE=micky]finally getting a FtF..  music is natural music is fun music is best when it is ONE ON ONE kind of listens. While working on the computer this week I'd hear Raff listening but in most cases was not able to put what I was hearing to any memory of seeing these TV shows..

so off I go...
not a dog person.. so never was much of a lassie fan. Though my first true real true love had a lassie kind of dog and she was cute (the dog.. Corinne was a bombshell)

the music.. ehhh..  didn't say Lassie to me.. though I do love a good whistle

Flika - dear God .. not bad musically but that video.. nearly sent me into the shakes and spasms.. not sure if that was the video quality or what it actually was..  perhaps it was being sober and watching it haha

and Daktari

LOVED that.. and that music.. the video...  and hahahahha..  the cross eyed Lion gets my vote.  Hard to see this one getting knocked off the top spot.  Itchs many scratches .. and though I didn't recognize the music..the intro did jog a deep memory. I might have seen that way back as a little tike./QUOTE]  Glad you liked Daktari.  I think it is certainly the most original of the animal themes I picked.  Lassie is arfully Wink pretty and suits her Scottishness, Flicka was a very 60's Western theme.  Living so close to where all of those Westerns were filmed, absolute must to watch.  Monty Montana came to my elementary school and do a trick roping and riding show on the playground once.  There was a guy who came around with a pony through all of the Los Angeles neighborhoods and would take photos of kids wearing chaps and a cowboy hat.  One of the few photos I have of being a small child.  LOL

that said.. not something I had heard in a long time.

lovely video... btw..  makes me homesick.. the more so since I just stepped out for a cigarette and was serenaded by the sound of some dude vomiting out of his open car door...

Magnum PI (also feat. Larry Carlton)

NICE!!  again..  #5 on my extended alt would have been the Magnum PI intro.. the music was great...  but I would have posted the original intro clip...come on... Ferrari's .. helicopters.. bikini clad chicks.. and best of all

John Hillerman hahah

gave my thoughts on Rockford.. hell yeah

and Hill Street Blues...  that is classic..

3 absolute winners...

All episodes are introduced by the main theme which sometimes reappears within the episodes in different variations.

wow.. I really really liked that.. and enough to check out the link.

Loved it right till the end...  till she dropped the pooch in the dude's lap...  what is it with dogs!!  We need more cats in this thread and this forum...Angry The one point deduction for fraudulent feline featuring (had a dashed hope it was just a very shaggy cat at first) might be enough to keep it out of the top 3.. but outside of the Schmidt track.. the msuic has been the most evocative and made me want to learn more about the show.

great suggestion..  but next time.. find a video with a cat.

That was hysterical!  I am surprised that no one entered Fawlty Towers, almost did myself, until I came up with the animals theme.

If you are only listing the show name, then you might want to list it as Utopia 2 in the poll options.

holy moly mother of milkman....  trying to debate if that tops cross eyed lions or not for top spot... but rest assured.. THAT gets a top 3 vote. Loved that Clap

will check out alts... but if you choose something other than this for your polling option.. I'll dock you a vote on principal... unless... unless.. you were able to top that one.. hmmm..  checking out your alts

probably was looking forward to your suggestions Greg most since I know you have a very wide and diverse range of TV/movie tastes

Moglai  - very cool... my kind of rainy day, curled up on couch with a glass of wine and reading about various human atrocities and war crimes (you know.. history books) kind of music. In case you missed my comment to Raff.. any and everything allowed. No rules.. PA or not..  it is about TV shows.. not just a prog non-prog kind of thing.

Murray Gold - nice but no real connection.. and never was a fan of the show so double disconnect

Badalamenti - good one.. and nice fit for Laura hahah Thumbs Up I really liked that one..  but am a sucker for that kind of music.

Preisner - ooohhhhh..  now that might get you a pass on the vote docking if you choose that one.

Prisoner Theme -  far out. Shaken not stired kind of vibe.. and cool intro....and a bonus point for the hot wheels and the good sense to let us hear those puppies roar...

The Jones Sisters did all of the music for the TV series and the album that resulted is pretty great.

This is another song from that series, however, since it isn't the theme song, I guess it doesn't qualify, but it's a great song nevertheless if you are interested.

oh man... damnit...  you may have just officially made this tough for me with Comet if you do choose it for the poll!!  Now my top 3 just became a top 4 and one is going to go. AngryLOLBeer

btw....wickedest non CDB violin solo since Wilf was ELO'ing man

and really liked Resonate... Micky style.. both of them...had heard neither of these before. Great choice and followup Clap

Hey Mick, guys and ladies  Beer

I'm gonna indulge heavily and travel straight to my childhood in the 80's...

"Verano Azul", ("Blue Summer") - is a beyond beautiful Spanish series from the early 80's that aired here in Latin America and a few other places as well. It narrates the adventures of a gang of friends on the coastal town of Nerja in Andalucía, South Spain, and how they go about growing up with each experience they have. The music I find it beautifully upbringing.. something, I think, difficult to attain, and don't know.. maybe reminiscent of Spanish music, Chabrier's 'España' suite, zarzuela, etc.?

Captain Future - Main Theme (Latin version). Absolutely love the series and the music! I mean not only the main theme;  I find it truely progressive.. if somehow a bit Disco.. (progressive disco? LOL Stern Smile)  The main track in particular is different to the english one, and the singer happens to be Chilean, nicknamed 'Capitán Memo'. He not only did Captain Future's but many of the animated series back then.

For nostalgics my age, or if you want to peek inside the (for me, superb) incidental music into the series, that are mainly instrumental songs (it is not detached from the screenplay though, but I find it great that way!), I found this site's mp3 with much effort!

Robotech. This one would only be the main theme, that is 'till 1:36 (but if you like it/didn't know it, the battle/bad guys themes are awesome too..  2:50, 7:38)

And..   maybe something a bit more conventional...  and/or recent.

Band of Brothers

Did a long-awaited rerun recently, this time with my wife..  (I don't know how I managed to convince her) ...what an experience. Crying guaranteed. And the music totally captivated us.

(Note: just in case, please take it for what it is..  a beautiful soundtrack of a tv series that is in turn an ode to soldiers, sacrifice, courage and heroism. I recall some threads around 3 or 4 years ago here on PA about war movies so.. I'd think is not a problem).

I'd like to suggest naming the entries by the show's name, for clarity and easy remembering..  and maybe mentioning the details as a side note, somewhere.. 1st. post or so.

On that point, it would be great also afterwards creating an index with all the links on the first post to the exact posts for each nomination.

oh...  funny... if I had listened to that Verano Azul previous to this evening I would puked and bemoaned the lack of screaming instruments, much less scantily clad women,  hot wheels or just a miasma of pissoffittude that was my week

but you caught me on a Friday...  and I really liked it.. put a smile on my face.. The good kind..the rare kind.. the unevil grin ..  the dopey grin that upbeat stuff can do.. when you are not pissed and stressed and looking to kick someone's ass...

Captian Futuro.... umm...  that good mood only goes so far.. 34 seconds

Robotech...  not bad for those kind of sympho kind of themes which really aren't my cup of tea

Band of Brothers..  pretty good...  but actually liked the theme from The Pacific better.. besides...Airborne are pussies.. Marines rule..

definitely go with the Verano Azul IMO nice change of pace from other suggestions.. my own included. Clap

And that, nostalgically, reminds me of the American adaptation Star Blazers and it's full on cheesy theme;

OMG!!  I forgot completely about that one... yeah.. classic cheese theme.. but a classic show.
