Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.

Tomorrow I plan to really get down to listening {EDIT, forgot, going to be out and busy most of the day tomorrow}. By the way, instead of the soundtrack tracks idea for my contribution to the series, I might like to do a melancholic one called "Tears For Ears".

I think there are few women in this poll ... yet there have been many nice songs to make us feel guilty in the eighties. Micky, my friend, who is Madonna compared to these high-class artists? Samantha Fox: Touch Me Bananarama: Venus Guesch Patti: Etienne Sabrina: Boys Edited by jamesbaldwin - July 03 2020 at 20:04 |

Samntha Fox\ Touch Me reminbed me of this:
I like Divinyls a lot, especially for the 1985 What a Life! album. I thought about listing this before, but then I thought, no, this is just a good song. |

While unpacking, I found a presskit photo of the synthwave band I managed back in the 80's They were really good though...But you can see why Kim Fowley called me about them.

Waiting for final choices to end up on the tallyboard and will cast my votes then, I think there have been a couple newer decisions and maybe still waiting for a piece to two to be officially in the race.

The one I remember from that album is this one. It's her delivery. "Please don't ask me. How I've been getting off."

Very nice detailed discussion of lots of things; unfortunately for time reasons I won't be able to do anything like that! In fact yes, the Rah Band has all the elements of cheesy pop but I was spellbound by it when I heard it for the first time, as was my then girlfriend who heard it independently of me in the same week (and who otherwise has a pretty good taste, too). Agree with Subway to Sally, not going into the lyrics this is just a fine song by a fine band. I also thought that Karat may be considered the most embarrassing of the bunch, and actually I didn't even admit to myself that I like it until many years after I had heard it for the first time. Maybe a bit unusual to not like such a thing on a whim of the moment but rather getting into it after having heard it hundreds of times (it's a proper core item of (Eastern) German culture). I don't think such a thing happened to me with any other song of the Schlager genre. I'd almost have nominated it, but then decided, maybe give people some English language stuff this time. PS @ mathman: Very good and helpful job here!

I have a top 5 or 7 if you go with that format. Go for it. Videos would be a must with Weird Al. |

I've voted for two favourites already: Madonna and A-ha. I haven't decided who my third favourite is going to be yet though, but I'm guessing I can't vote for my own choice of song.

Okay, I've chosen my third song: The RAH Band and "Clouds Across the Moon". I've always liked that song.
