TBH I do not care what others think about that. I've been mocked plenty for some of the music i listen and enjoy, so others think I should be embarrassed or something, well I am not. No one should be. I'll try and come up with a song today, if not, see you at the next poll. |

TMBG should be chosen 100 times and it would still not be enough!

Many of the chosen artists or songs here have some spot in my guilty pleasure list.
BTW, Linda Rondstadt with or without her Stone Ponys (which, by the way, sometimes includes half of another favorite (but more on a love/hate relationship lately [hey, could that be another topic?]), The Eagles) is always a personal favorite of mine too. Nothing shameful about that at all!

[EDIT: see bottom (not my bottom you cheeky monkey) of my post (not that kind of post you cheeky monkey), for my The Shaggs' (not that kind of "shag" you cheeky monkey) "Philosophy of the World" poll choice]
I've got four for now: The Shaggs are often ridiculed, but I genuinely love the whole Philosophy of the World album: "My Pal Foot Foot" -------------------------------------------- Bob Crewe and Charles Fox - Barbarella -------------------------------------------- A friend on mine offered me good money to destroy my Bauhaus CD that has this on it. I refused out of principle. Bauhaus - In the Flat Field "Yin and yang lumber punch Go taste a tart, then eat my lunch" (I love to quote those lyrics) ---------------------------------------------- Also, I love many "Shreds", but others have not appreciated such things. This is a favourite of mine (that bassoon!) -- could almost be RIO/Avant: The Cure - If Only Tonight We Could Sleep (Shred version) ------------------------------------------------ Ultimately I'm not really embarrassed to like such stuff(well, it depends on who I'm sharing such things with). I do have guilty pleasures. EDIT: In case my other message is missed. THIS WILL BE MY CHOICE FOR THE POLL: The Shaggs - "Philosophy of the World" Edited by Logan - July 02 2020 at 15:37 |

Has anyone listened to the pieces I posted? I'd be curious to know what effect they have.

Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.

^ I haven't started listening to anyone's choices yet. I only just now voted in the last poll. Reading people's impressions is one of the most interesting parts for me.

I mentioned liking shreds, and the Shred version is a favourite of mine (I also like the original): I do feel rather embarrassed to enjoy such silly things as much as I have (takes skill to do such shreds, though). Edited by Logan - July 01 2020 at 11:19 |

^Until you posted, I had no idea such things existed. Not exactly sure what to make of them.

Edited to add, I'd forgotten the lady in the cage was yours, also. I think, in the time, it was meant to be more serious, still comes across very funny to me these days. Disco not my thing at all, but I liked that she had a deeper voice than many. Edited by Snicolette - July 01 2020 at 12:53 |

Amanda Lear is a French singer and actress who was successful in Italy especially in the seventies and eighties on television, creating a self-image close to that of a transgender, in fact the rumor had spread that she was a man who had become a woman - it is false, but in fact she had a deeper voice. She has always been a very intelligent and witty woman who played with her image, making ironic songs and programs.

The lovely Amanda Lear (a true legend) does have a connection to prog, or at least to art rock: she is the model on the cover of Roxy Music's For Your Pleasure, which is arguably their most progressive album (and a great one at that). She was also a close friend of Salvador Dali.

Fair enough... I think I won't get myself to posting a different version, but there are a number of versions of it on youtube. It's Michael Holm - Mendocino (he apparently performed this over 20+ years!), so if micky or anyone is interested, you can figure out which one works in your country.

My sixth suggestion: Goran Bregovich: O Bella Ciao (Italian traditional song about the Partisans)
