Definitely their weakest album so far imo.. but still good. I don't think ABBA knows how to make a bad album.
Super Trouper - One of their big hits The Winner Takes It All - One of their biggest and best songs On and on and On - Cool sounding song Andante, Andante - Good slow song Me and I - Another good song Happy New Year - Somewhat fillerish Our Last Summer - Back on track, this one's good The Piper - Fillerish but definitely interesting Lay All Your Love on Me - Finally! This is a good one The Way Old Friends Do(live) - Nice song but not the greatest |

I wasn't expecting that. That sounded very different, but it was GOOD! I was fully expecting that to be the worst one, but it was not.
The Visitors - Doesn't sound like ABBA, definitely cool though. Head over Heels - Ok slightly more ABBA sounding.. I really like this. When All Is Said and Done - Another good one. Soldiers - Slower but good. I Let the Music Speak - Very good flowing song. One of Us - One of their classics, sounds like ABBA to me. Two for the Price of One - Fun song. Slipping Through My Fingers - That was really good. Like an Angel Passing Through My Room - filler on an otherwise great album. That's an album I definitely plan to listen to again.. probably skip the last song though. So after listening to all those ABBA albums, I liked the first 3(Ring Ring, Waterloo, ABBA) the best, also this one(The Visitors)... But all of them were legitimately good. No album even close to being weak in their discography.

Well that was basically good... but a little mediocre imo.
Steel Monkey - This sounds A LOT different. I like it though Farm on the Freeway - There's that flute. Fairly good song Jump Start - Cool song. Yeah I like this one. Said She Was a Dancer - Slower, good but not great. Budapest - Singing sounds more like talking in this one, but musical breaks are very good. Mountain Men - This one is good. Raising Steam - More of a jamming one. Fairly good. |

Of course if you want something completely different from Jethro (except part 2 from title track), then try Under Wraps. I listened it whole through just a few years ago and I think it was lot better than itīs reputation (again not the greatest eighties sounds IMO).

Back in the music listening after few days pause, this days album is:
Trader Horne: Morning Way This is the only album of the folk duo where were Judy Dyble & Jackie McAuley (formerly Them-member). This album has lots in common with three first Bolan albums in itīs naive innocence, but I think this album has better songs and also arrangements. Judyīs vocals are of course absolutely fabulous, but Jackieīs voice is also really soft and fit very well with Judyīs. Also his flute playing is so great! Greatest songs are Jenny May, Three Rings Of Elven Kings (this instrumental has lots in common with Jethro of same time), In My Loneliness, title song, the Mutant and the most greatest two last pieces Velvet To Atone (really donīt wonder why Judy made new version from this piece in her latest solo) & Luke That Never Was. Really understand why this album got so little attention in 1970, that was big year of prog so this fairytale folk was just too late then. But nowdays I really hope this album will got more friends!

Wow! That was actually really good! Jenny May - Nice acoustic tune, I liked it. Children Of Oare - Beginning sounds very familiar lol. Three Rings for Elven Kings - Nice flute here I really like it. Growing Man - Timeless sounding song. Album is good so far. Down And Out Blues - Good but not great. The Mixed Up Kind - Really good, best song so far. Better Than Today - Another good one. In My Loneliness - Good flowing song. Sheena - More upbeat, really good. The Mutant - Slower but definitely good. Morning Way - I like this one very much. Velvet To Atone - Decent song, I don't love piano though. Luke That Never Was - This is very very good! Great way to close this album. |

2 Fridays albums:
Spirit: Twelve Dreams Of Dr. Sardonicus If Argus is masterpiece, then I think this album is ultra masterpiece! As I said about this when listening Argus, these albums have a lot of common, but this album just is so much versatile than Argus. Here are really groove pieces (Nothin To Hide, Animal Zoo, Mr. Skin, Morning Will Come), beautiful acoustic pieces (Prelude, Natureīs Way, Why Canīt I Be Free, Life Has Just Begun), psychedelic/prog pieces (Love Has Found a Way, Space Child) and even hard rock (When I Touch You). Itīs possible Natureīs Way is played in the US radio, but really no Spirit in Finlandīs radio! Although this is bandīs greatest album, this wasnīt a big seller in itīs time. And unlike Wishbone Ash, this is again great US band! The Thinking Fellers Union Local 282: Tangle Another great band from US (I think I have mentioned this before). This is their second album, but first one as vinyl (first album was cassette only release). I think this is their punkiest album, most near of Sonic Youth, on the other hand this has also their country influences. As far as I understand here a lots of their humor about rednecks. Also few really melodic pieces (Change Your Mind & Choke).

Ok, I'll give you better than the first two Tyrannosaurus Rex albums. And maybe just slightly better than Unicorn.. But definitely not better than The Slider, and probably not even better than Electric Warrior or Tanx.

That's what I'm talking about!!! Wow! That album is POWERFUL and rhythmic. From the slow build in the beginning... to that female chorus singing their lungs out.. It's just so good. That album is dominating. To me it's obviously Magma's best album. To me their first album sounds a lot like Zappa's Waka/Jawaka(very jazzy and satisfying, but not really special in the way MDK is). I like Magma's second album 1001° Centigrades a lot too. They're a special band, no question. And to me this one.. is the Jewel in the Crown.
