Topic: I’m outta here.............. Posted: December 29 2004 at 00:02 |
Nah, not really. My wife thinks I should give up PROG for a New Years Resolution.
She should receive the divorce papers sometime next week.
Ha ha ...... Which begs the question;
What would it take to get you to give up progressive rock?
People with Emphysema still toke on the death nail. Clinically obese people keep motoring up to the drive through window at McDonalds. Dialysis patients serve themselves up another shot of Jack.
Yeah, I know. You can't equate prog with a disease, but in some ways, it is addictive. Could you give it up? Could ya?

^ Yes, Danbo, if I wanted to, I could give up prog. (PC did so.) There would be many other types of music to fall back on.
But I don't have to, or want to!

Well most of my heroes are not considered prog anyway, so the answer is YES there´s always Jazz and Classical music to rely on.

Considering that for a couple of years in the 90's I listened exclusively to classical, yes I could give up prog. It's not the be all and end all of my existance. Asking me to give up books would be another matter.

Many's the time I've been thinking about changing my ways But when it gets right down to it it's the same drunken haze I'm serving a sentence to write life's sentences It's only when I'm out of it I make sense of this
Just for the record I'm gonna put it down Just for the record I'm gonna change my life around
Just a revolutionary with a pseudonym Just a bar room dancer on my final fling Just another writer paying off my dues Just finding inspiration well that's my excuse
Just for the record I'm gonna put it down Just for the record I'm gonna change my life around
Just another empty gesture with an empty glass Just another comic actor behind a tragic mask But I've got no discipline got no self control Just a little less painful here when my back's against the wall
It's too late, I found, it's too far, I'm in two minds Both of them are out of it at the bar When you say I got a problem that's a certainty But I can put it all right down to eccentricity It's just for the record it's just a passing phase
Just for the record I can stop any day |

I could give it up tomorrow, if I wanted to.....

As I could with any of my vices....

Seriously though, I daresay that as my musical taste constantly digresses, I'll naturally listen to less prog (I've only a limited amount of time on my hands, and only one pair of ears after all - but there's so much music out there still to be discovered), but I'd always go back for the occasional fix.
But then again, what is prog anyway?

I suppose I'll eventually go deaf from listening to my music too loud, but even then I don't think I will quit

No way. I've been hooked on prog for years. I've tried R'n'B patches, techno gum and Blues hypnosis, but to no avail. I tried taking Hip Hop for a while, but found it just made me depressed.
At this rate I'll simply prog myself to death!!

I could if someone would turn me deaf otherwise.
Bah, other music exists. Reggae. Rap. Yo, I could take up G-Unit for a living.
.... not. I do enjoy mainstream bands from time to time, Our Lady Peace
and Sam Roberts and stuff... Radiohead are doing good for me as well,
Oasis... Muse.. ish.

Grog = rum & water, Danbo -- the "fuel" of the ol' Royal Navy.
Yours in pointless punctilious pedantry,
P.
