As good as it is I agree about Kashmir being repetitive.

I'd leave No Quarter as their proggiest. Last Stand would be in the top 5 for sure. Kashmir is too repetititititive to be really prog (unlike Stairway, which an amazing crecendo, even if stolen from Spirit), and so is Carouselambra.

Realised after voting that I'd forgotten to include Carouselambra which I think is Zepp at their proggiest. It sounds a bit like ELP with guitars.

Side Note: I did not put one of the songs off of it in my top five but I do have a soft spot for Presence.

For me Kashmir is their out and out prog track. The keyboards and drums are so great and also perhaps only Plant could sing in that way.

I'd have bet a reasonable amount of cash that Stairway wouldn't win and maybe a slightly smaller amount that Kashmir would.

It's always interesting how these polls turn out. They hardly ever go the way I expected. I thought Stairway to Heaven would win this poll easily, but it's already dropped to 2nd place behind Kashmir. Here's the latest Top 5 round-up, with Chopper's votes added:- 1. Kashmir (41 points) 2. Stairway to Heaven (37 points) 3. No Quarter (27 points) 4. Dazed and Confused (26 points) 5. Achilles' Last Stand (25 points) Bubbling under:- 6. When the Levee Breaks (21 points) 7. The Rain Song (20 points) 8. Battle of Evermore (19 points) |
