To get rid of them. Tested it again and it does record and play but the recorded audio is really distorted and wobbly. I guess it would make sense that the sound quality is worse than at full speed but you can barely make out the speech.

I don't think so but that's kind of what it sound like. I tried with another tape and it's the same. I guess I'll just use the half speed for noise and full speed for everything else.
