Here's to you the thread where post our fave songs of classic/heartland/roots rock.

And talk about the artists who play that music.

Do you like this song?

Amos Goldberg (professor of Genocide Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem): Yes, it's genocide. It's so difficult and painful to admit it, but we can no longer avoid this conclusion.

Not much love for the Mellencamps, Hornsbys and Pettys in these parts.
Only thing close to Roots rock I enjoy is The Grateful Dead.

But there are a lot of artists!

I love some Hiatt's albums

Of the four big heartland rock artists (in my mind, Springsteen, Seger, Mellencamp, and Petty) my opinions almost completely flipped since when I first heard them to the present day.
I used to regard Springsteen as annoying (mostly for his Born In The USA singles), Petty as nice enough but nothing special, Mellencamp as a true songsmith of the highest order, and Seger as the coolest and most rocking of them all. Nowadays it's Seger who gets annoying (mostly from overplay of Hollywood Nights, Night Moves, and a few very similar songs that just go on a chorus or three too long), Mellencamp who's nice enough but usually nothing special (gems like I Need A Lover and Rain On The Scarecrow notwithstanding), Tom Petty as a true songsmith of the highest order (RIP, and screw fentanyl and doctors who over-prescribe), and Springsteen as the most awesome and ambitious of them all. I don't dislike any of them, but I'm quite surprised at how my initial opinions of them were so contrary to what I found later.
Porg for short. My love of music doesn't end with prog! Feel free to discuss all sorts of music with me. Odds are I'll give it a chance if I haven't already! :)
