Logan I haven`t noticed many chats or socialising of any kind here sorry to say.

There isn't as much as I would like, to be honest. I think that's what the Shred Room was for CLICK HERE, but a lot of it just looks like random nonsense/ silliness to me. We used to have the Shed as well (a different topic for socialising), which was for, generally, more mature discussion for more mature people (it was considered serious enough not to be in Just For Fun, but that showed some bias). When I joined I was a little too young for it (was in my 30s), and I didn't yet have my own shed (or any grey hairs), but now I'm older and have a shed and white hairs (I'm still not shedding my hair, though).

I've wanted to start a new topic for chat/discussion on all things, but one that is more conversation based than the Shed. An all-friendly all-the-time topic where we can also rant about whatever, act as a bit of a support group, and whatever. I think it would be nice to have, especially during these trying times when so many of us are home all the time (and actually I do get bored sometimes). I was saying recently that I was planning to take a break from this site (so I stepped down as an admin), but I find myself still posting here quite a lot (too much perhaps), mostly with my usual nonsense. I like nonsense, but I don't think my brand on nonsense would suit the Shred Room, and again, I would want it to be more discussion based and a little less random and less weird for the sake of being weird.

At the forum I belonged to before this one, even though we came from around the world, we tried to set times when we would all try to log-in and chat together (real time online conversation). We had real-time flame-wars quite frequently already. Flame wars aside,it was a great and close-knit community, and we gelled well (most of us anyway).

While I should avoid giving unsolicited advice, perhaps this is the time to focus more on your inner geek than your inner freak (if separable).       As for me, I'm way more freak than geek.

Or not.

Difficult and troubling times indeed. While I'm coping reasonably well and am feeling relatively rational/sane (relative to my usual lack of sanity), I know this is a really terrible time for many.

Here are some virtual, no personal contact needed, hugs for the world.

But remember, in the physical meeting world:

I like to think while we may be apart, and people are physically more apart than ever, we're in this together.

In the words of Spinal Tap, from "The Majesty of Rock":

"And that's the majesty of rock!
The fantasy of roll!
The ticking of the clock,
The wailing of the soul!
The prisoner in the dock,
The digger in the hole,
We're in this together, and ever..."

And in the words of Van der Graaf Generator from "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers":

"I am a lonely man
My solitude is true...
My eyes have borne stark witness
And now my nights (or knights?) are numbered too
...
I prophesy disaster
And then I count the cost
I shine but, shining, dying
I know that I am almost lost
...

It doesn't feel so very bad now
I think the end is the start
Begin to feel very glad now
All things are a part
All things are apart
All things are a part"

At least that VdGG suite ends on a positive note, and all things are apart, but all things are a part.

We wibble and we wobble, but hopefully we stand tall, or at least sit tall, in the end. I'm glad you've been feeling better. Music has amazing healing and restorative powers. I have depression and anxiety, feelings of isolation and a sense of alienation, and it often lifts my spirits, as does connecting with others (though that is harder for me than most, sadly). I hadn't listened to much Wobbler, but inspired by you, I'm listening to Wobbler's Afterglow and liking it. It reminds me somewhat of one of my old favourite bands, Gryphon. So thanks for the inspiration.

One of my children has BPD (borderline personality disorder). These things can be rough at the best of times, take good care of yourself. Have hope, the world should be getting back to normal, well, the new normal at some time.   We just have to be patient, wish we didn't, and find new ways to cope and not feel so isolated..

And loving the classical music you're listing.
