Anyway I was there in May this year and it was not such a large place as I had imagined

Yes,I'm sure it's his fault. We all know he's completely evil and up to no good so shrinking Picadilly Circus is child's play to this criminal genius.

I realise that you were trying to redress the balance, and that we're essentially on the same side here. If by 'Old English' you mean 1930s, you're half right. In the early days of the BBC, a panel of experts was convened (among them George Bernard Shaw) in order to decide what, exactly, constituted 'correct' English. This committee decided that what we now know as a roundabout should be called a gyratory circus, but for some reason it never caught on.
