Hey Doug, what kind of radio station is that? Is it just a local rock station or is it an xmsirius satellite deep tracks channel?

I was in an indoor market kind of place recently and saw a guy with a "hot rats" Frank Zappa t shirt. The guy at the record store there said he owns the t shirt store. Interesting.

Taking a little break to sit down and watch some hockey. Before a faceoff with about 25 seconds left to go in the 2nd period of the Sharks/Rangers game, the Madison Square Garden organist busts out with "21st century Schizoid Man". Epic.

A commercial just came on and it’s driving me nuts. It was so strange I completely missed what it was for. It started out with an ugly bumpy slippery looking computer animated creature. I think it was female and in a kitchen? Then a smaller equally hideous creature came walking in, and I swear he was wearing a 21st Century Schizoid Man t-shirt! It was kind of worn out and it was sort of murky lighting so it was hard to make it out. He turned and stuck his head in the refrigerator and never turned back so I didn’t get another look at it. Can anyone confirm this sighting? It might have been an Energizer battery commercial.

I finally caught it again! Here's a screenshot and a link to a website that has it. Well, it's not a link but if you really want to see it I'm sure you can figure it out. Couldn't find it on youtube.
Why is it so satisfying to see something like this on TV?

Forgot to mention - it's a Dunkin Donuts commercial. Wacko

The only link between King Crimson and tv commercials I could find was this. Unless you speak Japanese you probably won't understand it though.

Not a commercial but I found this too. KC just keeps getting more and more mainstream.

Well there's this (and don't let the hip hop put you off):
(EDIT: This uses the Kanye West one already posted.)

I don't understand how these commercials can possibly sell air conditioners in any language, but they sure do a good job of selling Adrian's propensity for making animal noises with his guitar.

I have seen it. I guess that one is so obvious I forgot agbout it. Although most rap kind of rubs me the wrong way I will admit Kanye made very good use of schizoid man in his song "power."

Well, some places might play these songs without realizing they are considered prog. I remember mentioning the word prog to a guy at a Genesis tribute band concert and he thought I was talking about "Prague" as in the city in Czech Republic. Confused

Yeah, unfortunately these days there aren't too many ways to come across prog in public places unless we count the tv as a public place. How likely is it to see prog on tv? Wink Actually, I'm not sure if someone mentioned it here or not(or another site) but about a year ago or so there was a tv show that had a Chris Squire song playing(I think "with you by myside"). Imagine watching a show and something like that comes on. I don't remember the show but it was on one of the main channels not a cable channel.

Today, in the local Gaston, OR "Pretty Good Market."  Gaston is primarily a farming community, with a population of 715.  Stopped to pick up a couple of steaks for supper (locally sourced, pretty much all of the markets here have local meat and produce galore) and some half and half for my coffee.  PF's "Wish You Were Here," started up while I was in the checkout line (of just me).

Based on your description my guess was "the great deceiver." At least I got the right band though. Actually the band chose the name King Crimson because they wanted a name that represented the devil so it's quite appropriate they chose them.
