Zeuhl is usually pretty energetic, sometimes bordering on hysterical. I was wondering, are there any gentle or maybe even chill zeuhl bands or albums that still have the typical genre elements? Like the choral element, I really enjoy that.

Setna was the first to come to my mind. Aside from those those mentioned, I was going to mention Laurent Thibault's Mais on ne peut pas rêver tout le temps, but its not altogether gentle. Also, Eider Stallaire, but it's more mixed. There's a lot of gentle music in Zeuhl, but not a lot that is fully gentle of which I can think. Ones like Zao and Rialzu's U Rigiru have gentle moments at least.

I know you asked for albums, and that you know Magma, but for those looking for gentle Zeuhl, this off the often reviled Merci is the first track to spring to mind.

I might recommend trying Patrick Gauthier if you haven't. Bébé Godzilla tends to be my most played, but Sur les flots verticaux has some beautiful music on it.

EDIT: and some Offering as well as this off Magma's Felicite Thosz.

When I hear "chill Zeuhl" French group FOEHN comes to mind:
delicate with more pop influences in 80s fashion, but also some energetic moments with guitar and synths:

also even more mysterious (ok total mysterious) group from France MAGISTER DIXIT:
lightly zeuhl with big empasis on vocals and acoustic side of music, also there're some intensive growing moments, but atmosphere is celestial

from newer bands also GA'AN:
has many synthesizer fragments and it's very chilling at many parts
second album is in the similar style
