The thing is though, I didn't know those King Crimson albums were going to turn out to be two-star albums for me until I actually listened to them, and in the case of the Lizard album, which I'd always held in poor regard previously, it actually gained a star from me and became a very listenable three-star album instead of a two-star dud. Smile

One thing I wouldn't do though, is waste time in writing a two-star review for an album. If I come across an album that's only worthy of two stars, in my opinion, then I'll just skip right on by it and look for an album to review that's worthy of three stars or more. Anyway, I won't be reviewing any of King Crimson's albums any time soon, or ever, so no worries there on that score.  Wink

I don't review albums I don't like either, just seems mean if other people love them and I'm probably won't do them justice.

Yes, they're my own genuine star ratings and they're the same ratings I'll give when I eventually get around to rating King Crimson's albums officially. Smile

Ok, I was like "WTF did he find those particular ratings", lmao. So KC gets less interesting with each release, regarding your ears?

Yes, I've only listened to King Crimson's first eight albums so far, but the Discipline album was the least appealing of all (to put it politely) in my opinion, so I'm not looking forward to hearing the albums that followed it. I gave the Red album a three-star rating, because it contains the song Starless which I really like, but there weren't any other stand-out songs on the Red album for me. I was surprised to find it on the Red album though, because I'd naturally assumed Starless would be on the Starless and Bible Black album, but then again, Robert Fripp has always been unpredictable. Do you remember his bizarre appearance on the Mr & Mrs game show with his wife Toyah Wilcox?

Discipline
Lizard
Red
Three of a Perfect Pair
Beat
Lark's Tongues
In the Court
Thrak
Starless and Bible Black
The Power to Believe
Wake of Poseidon
Islands
ConstruKction of Light

There's not a single one I'd give less that 3 stars, and 3 stars means "good".

And this one I like a lot, too! I'd probably put it around where Power to Believe is in my list.

I really donīt understand you but...there are many people in this world I donīt understand (probably you also donīt me)

It all comes down to a matter of personal choice. I'm sure you'll agree with my rating for King Crimson's universally acclaimed first album though. Smile
Of course we all have very subjective view to albums. You have given in your reviews five stars to albums I would never give, to me Lizard is absolutely five star album, but I would have expected you also give it at least four. Maybe when you listen it more. And youīre right, Court is their greatest album IMO too.

If I remember right, Starless was ready when they recorded Starless & Bible Black (there are live version also from that period in youtube) but I quess when deciding what songs will become to Starless & Bible-album, they werenīt satisfied about the version (maybe itīs re-recorded in Red) so they leave it out although have already decided album name.

I believe you donīt like after Discipline albums, theyīre not my biggest KC favorites too, although I like them.

I'm with you on Discipline certainly. I'm a bit obsessed with Red though to the point that I have tended to ignore the other albums. However I'm glad you like the albums with Greg Lake on if nothing else!
BTW If I was to pick the only song from Red that you would like then I would have expected Fallen Angel and definitely not Starless and Bible Black! But its good that you appreciate the latter Tongue

Yes, the rich tones of Greg Lake on the first two King Crimson albums are what really made those two albums shine for me. I also liked the use of the Mellotron on those first two albums, especially on "Epitaph". I really didn't like the vocals at all on the "Discipline" album though, and it's not an album I'd be inclined to listen to again any time soon.

There is less or more great use of Mellotron in all Crimson sixties/seventies -albums, not at all after those that I think is really shame. I also think Gregg was the best singer in Crimson, but really love Wetton too and all those others are not bad (like even Gordon Haskell).
