The Concerto for Group and Orchestra, composed by Deep Purple keyboard player Jon Lord, is probably one of the best-known Classical Crossover performances of all time. This truly IS Symphonic Rock!

William Sheller's Lux Aeterna is something of a stand-out for me as a type of classical crossover. It's original music that combines symphonic prog and psychedelicish rock with a classical symphonic and choral music aesthetic. I have a thing for such music.

Back in the late 70s, for my generation who were too young to have understood, first time round, the classical offerings from DP, John Lord,Ekseption, The Nice, etc. the album that had the greatest impact then and turned on a whole new generation of 15 year olds was Andrew Lloyd Webber's Variations, even the photo on the album was aimed at teenagers and students.

ALSO
For those who haven't heard it I can thoroughly recommend Hans Wurman's The Moog Strikes Bach from 1969. His playing on this and best of all his own compositions on this album are mental! Cardiacs and Camel fans would do well to listen to it. If you like the melancholy synth noodling on Snowgoose and Moon Madness, give this a spin.

Have you ever wondered what Welsh songstress Charlotte Church is doing these days? Well, in her own words, she's not singing "Pie ******* Jesu" ever again, that's for sure. Prepare to be surprised. This track, from the first of Charlotte's four imaginatively-titled Alternative Rock EP's:- One; Two; Three & Four. Tongue

Yes, it's a constant journey of discovery every day here at PA, and here's Sarah Brightman with her anthemic Classical/Symphonic Metal crossover epic, Gothica/Flowers of Evil. Heart

I'm a bit in doubt whether I'll classify it as a part of New Wave of Hair Metal. Big smile

 A-Z of Classical Crossover Artists

2CELLOS    How does a cello duo from the Croatian capital of Zagreb grab you? Well, here's your chance to find out. In the meantime, it's cello from them and goodbye from me as I'm off to find some more East European prog to share. Smile

2CELLOS perform AC/DC's Thunderstruck (Live) - from their third album, Celloverse. 🔥
