Swamp Thing is also well worth a mention if only for featuring one of my favorite actors Will Patton . DC stuff is ruling at the moment when you also consider Titans , Watchmen and the film Joker.

you stayed for Will Patton. He absolutely stole that movie and not surprisingly his career took off afterward...

I thought he was great in Mothman Prophecies as well. The film would not have been anything like as good without him. The part where he describes an encounter with one of the supernatural creatures totally creeped me out and set the film up perfectly.
It's a long while since I watched No Way Out so will need to revisit that one.

The Expanse is pretty damn cool sci-fi.  Watching now.
...that moment you realize you like "Mob Rules" better than "Heaven and Hell"

Annoyingly The Expanse Season 4 doesn't land in the UK until 15 December . I watched the trailer and they are definitely wandering into 2001 A Space Odyssey territory. Can't wait!

Just a gripe...but I'm really tired of all the companies splitting and charging their own fees....I already pay enough for Comcast cable but to see many of these shows one has to fork over more money to other channels.
Screw that.

I'm guessing this is a USA thing?
Yep there are separate streaming platforms from different companies, The main ones we have access to are
Netflix
Apple TV
Amazon Prime Video
eventually we will get Disney streaming platform as well

in terms of packaged TV (which includes terrestrial channels such BBC , ITV etc)  we have Sky , Virgin and BT as the main players although normally you still have to pay separately for the extra streaming content above although confusingly Sky also have a streaming arm called Now which is basically for people like me who don't have access to their Sky Atlantic channel which is the UK home of top rated US shows such as Watchmen and Ray Donovan.

TV was a lot simpler growing up when all you needed was an aerial to get the only available 3 channels. (although my home town of Swindon was one of the first English towns that pioneered Cable TV , later to be taken over by Virgin)

^ you're forgetting BritBox - so now we have to pay for what are basically repeats of telly programs we used to watch for nothing on iPlayer and whatever the ITV equivalent is called today.

Oh how we used to moan about all the repeats on telly, now we positively revel in them. Funny old world.
What?

I'm enjoying His Dark Materials.....the HBO remake of the Pullman books....Nicole Kidman did the film some years ago. Good fantasy imho.

Not sure is this qualifies as sci-fi (dystopian future drama) but we just started A Handmaids Tail on Hulu.
Very dark and disturbing. Just started season 2. We were a little late to the party on this one but it's really good so far .

I wouldn't mind seeing a Logan's Run reinterpretation.

I was not very explanatory in my OP or properly descriptive with my topic title, but for my purposes, such speculative fiction/ dystopian drama would surely fit. I have yet to see season two.

I would love to see Margaret Atwood's Oryx and Crake, and it's subsequent novels (The Year of the Flood and MaddAddam) made as a TV series. HBO was looking to adapt those, Darren Aronofsky had been helming the project, but HBO dropped that in 2016. The last I heard, Paramount Television and Anonymous Content was planning to produce the MaddAddam trilogy.

Not sci-fi, more alternative reality than fantasy, and fairly dark, Warrior is based on Bruce Lee's original treatment for what evolved into the classic Kung Fu series with David Carradine.   It follows a Chinese immigrant in 1870s San Francisco and his entanglements with local gangs vying for control of the City's opium business.   Slow start but builds into a watchable storyline, a decent Chinese cast who are not relegated to Asian stereotypes, and reasonable martial arts action.

Image result for warrior series

yep quite new thing . At least there are no adverts that you are forced to watch on the 'ITV player' and presumably available in HD as well . Don't know if there is any UHD content. I've just bought the Now TV Ultra HD box and loving it!

I loved the first 2 seasons of the Handmaids Tale but just got totally bored about 3 or 4 episodes into S3. I think it lost it's way a bit but maybe it picked up again later. I might revisit it when I have time.

Agreed. The film was vastly underrated in my opinion although I've never read the book that Dean mentions . It was a very interesting idea although perhaps not that original in sci-fi.

Just finished the latest season of the Expanse and it's good. More colorful language with the move to Amazon (just about every character asks some variation of what the f*** is going on). Good pacing and is able to juggle all the characters. It's a large cast. Not a series to jump in the middle of.
