I LOVE DISCO!! Heart There, I've said it! Loud and proud on a Prog-Rock site, where for anyone to say they love Disco must seem like sacrilege to dedicated Prog-Rock fans. There's been a lot of talk here lately about a band  by the name of "KC", and I love KC too, so GIVE IT UP for KC & the Sunshine Band!!

By the way, just between you and me, it's rumoured that Harry Wayne Casey took cocaine just before this TopPop TV appearance, and if you need any evidence,  take a close look at those hugely-dilated black pupils!

I like a lot of Euro-disco, Italo-disco, more electronic disco, and disco-ish music (Moroder, some Goblin like "Tenebre", Automat, some Chrome Hoof etc., and disco-ish music like Blondie was awesome to me).

I posted this already in the Disco Appreciation topic, but I like this:

The Can orignal is already quite disco-funk.

And music like Black Devil Disco Club

Thanks Logan! I arrived here about a year and 8 months too late to see your Disco Appreciation topic at the time. but at least I can boogie on down now and catch up with what I missed out on. Thanks for posting the two rare videos above - I'd never heard of either of those two bands before. I can definitely hear the trademark Giorgio Moroder synth-sound in both of those songs. Who would have guessed I'd be discovering new Disco artists on a Prog-Rock site. Smile Then again, the Dutch Prog-Rock band Earth & Fire went Disco at the WEEKEND back in 1979.

I hit Jr. High when disco took over.  I grew up with disco and it ruled every school dance.

I hated disco.  I even had a "Disco Sucks" T-shirt.

I have softened a great deal in my middle age and there's a lot of disco that has nostalgic appeal for me, and there's even some songs I like on their own merit, nostalgia aside.

But I will forever despise the most horrific and wretched example of that middling genre.... KC & the Sunshine Band.    No redeeming quality whatsoever.  Quite possibly the most musically offensive act to ever don sequins.  (interestingly, my 22yo daughter recently saw KC live and loved it).

Yeah, I can cope with some disco. There was some classic disco tunes around in the late 70's. I think I have two EW&F albums (among others) Can't say I listen to this stuff much these days, but I've certainly enjoyed it.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

I worked as a stage-hand /backstsge with Earth, Wind and Fire snd witnessing "September" on the stage, meeting the fellows, handshaking Verdine White were so unreal. In the Stone is my favourite disco track ever. But i also really like Bee Gees disco.

I like Earth, Wind & Fire too, as you probably guessed from my thread title. Wink "Let's Groove!"

Who would have guessed the Dutch Prog-Rock band Earth & Fire would turn out to be a Disco band too. Tongue

while I can cope with, tolerate a few songs here and there, it's a genre I mostly dislike.

That's okay. I didn't expect to find many Disco fans who wanted to get down and boogie with me on a Prog-Rock website. Wink

I'm equally enthusiastic about Prog-Rock and Disco, so I'm able to appreciate Earth & Fire's Disco years just as much as their Prog-Rock years. Well, almost as much anyway. Smile

I deleted my post, cause it stupidly duplicated some of what you said earlier. I quite enjoy E&F's disco and ABBA flavours of Reality Fills Fantasy.

^^ I wondered what had happened to the three Earth & Fire videos you posted. I would have listened to them if they'd still been there. I'll settle for the one remaining "Fire of Love" video instead. Smile

^ As a video, it's more interesting than other music I posted.

On another note: Giorgio Moroder's Battlestar Galactica:

(My favourite Moroder music is his Midnight Express soundtrack, which is also rather disco-y).

By the way I was once one of those disco sucks guys at one time, but as I got older I grew to appreciate lots of disco -- it's fun and funky.

Nile Rodgers released this tune a few years back.  It sounded like he never skipped a beat from the old days.

I have to disagree! There was some ingenious creativity involved on some of these songs--like this one:

When it comes to Disco, I'm never going to Give It Up, and my favourite song by KC & the Sunshine Band is right there at the top of this thread. Smile

The recent Prog Goes to the Disco thread reminded me of this French Disco classic which I've always loved. Heart
VOYAGE - From East to West

And this Disco classic too.....
