Silly Puppy Wrote:- "It does seem that according to everyone's reactions so far that the Brainstorm album would win the Worst Album Cover award at PA :D"
There's one particularly awful album cover by Gong, titled "Acid Motherhood" (2004) which is probably worse than Brainstorm's "Smile a While" cover, but the image is so truly hideous that I dare not even post it here. It features a naked and pregnant Daevid Allen (of Gong) on the album cover. Need I say more.

At least the music on Guru Guru's "Hinten" album is much better than the album cover implies.

By the way, I wouldn't object against calling the Echolyn cover "ugly", it just is a very direct, simple and convincing way to convey an artistic message, albeit a negative one. Art doesn't always have to be beautiful.

All this art met record company approval. Some one saw this sort of thing would make money - the most important thing. Gong's Acid Motherhood (yes do the online search but be warned - it's in the worst possible taste). Love
Beach has that trendy disco fashion thing. And the photo is not even
well positioned. Trendy (then), unimaginative - hey call it "true retro"
and re market the thing. Oh and before anyone
makes that most pithy of online definitive observations "Opinion!" Yes,
erythng read in my posts is my opinion. It is funny how we have to say
an opinion is an a opinion respect that you ave a view that I have a
view but we also need to say my view is my view because... why? Reasons I
suppose. |

Yeah that Brainstorm cover is horrendous. If I ever saw this album in a record bin, there was no way I would even pull it to look it.

You said it Mate, that album cover from Gong is another horrendous cover. Whenever I see, my stomach turns.

Save me Lord! That is horrendous. But the tights thing was also worn by Bill Ward on Sabotage and that to me is an equally bad cover. Great album...but the cover goes straight to the vomitorium!

Not sure if it can qualify as the worst prog album cover, but it certainly is the first that pops to mind when thinking of a prog album cover that makes me uncomfortable. Odd Logic - Penny for your thoughts: ![]() Edited by Jake123557 - November 04 2019 at 09:32 |

Very potent thread since most album covers I've seen on this site are garbage... it's not a knock on prog though, same could be said about metalarchives!

Hi, I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the European (I think?) version of "Three Friends." It is atrocious. Period. The version I have here in Canada is a retread of the first GG album with the new title embossed on the Giant's forehead. Yezda Urfa "Sacred Baboon" looks like a 9th grade art project. (Neat band, though!) Also, let's be honest, "Foxtrot" is pretty amateurish. The band didn't even like that one so much according to the "Reissues interview" on youtube. |

I like the "3 Friends" cover you trashed and, let's be honest, I love "Foxtrot" as well, especially the way it connects with the next two covers.
