Velvet Underground also had a gender mox in their line-up, i also classefy "girl group" when lead instruments and not only vocal duties are focused.

Carpenters also qualifies for Karens drum and vocal duties.

Lots of love for Female solo artists but hardly know any good groups.

Closest to an answer would be The Corrs. (no vote)

Sorry to have left out The Corrs. Unhappy I'll have to leave a gap in my next poll so I can include anyone later who I might have left out. Smile

Will always forget some, but a nice idea to leave a few slot open in these kind of poll.

The 90s alternative rock scene had lots all female bands. L7, Sleater Kinney, Babes in Toyland come to mind (Hole was also ALMOST an all female rock band)

From the list, my vote goes to Heart

I'm not sure the Carpenters would qualify as a female rock band. That would require a considerable stretch of the imagination. Wink

I might have voted for The Corrs if I'd remembered to include them. Oh well, we live and learn. Smile

I can't believe that I'm the first (and only so far) to vote for Fanny.  I saw them twice back in the 70s.  Once at the Fillmore East and the other at Max's Kansas City and they were great.

That's another band I'd missed and I just discovered they've been around since 1977!

Yeah, I was quite a fan back in the day. I loved their raw edge. I fancied the drummer too!

She was hot! Big smile

The were all fairly easy on the eye to be fair..

I had their first couple of albums, but never got to see them. Bruce Dickinson was quite a fan by all accounts, and I think they supported Maiden in 82 or 83.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

just noticed Vixen got no votes. I don't get it, they were more than ok, I'd rather listen to them than half of the bandsin the poll... Confused

I wasn't looking for an explanation, just expressing surprise, that's all.

I mean it's strange The Shaggs (Confused) got more respect... Who's trolling this poll? LOLConfused

Babes really should be on the list too. Kat was the real Courtney Love.

None of these really float my boat.

For original material I will take OOIOO all day long.

For cover bands, I really quite enjoy The Iron Maidens.

No all female bands rises to the level of OOIOO. They are queens of the girl band thing if you ask me.

I voted the Shaggs. Something about them really intrigues me.

Bands like the Go-Gos, Bangles, Runaways were cute too. Great pop songs.

You got that right! All-female math rockers Tricot and especially Paranoid Void deserve a mention (and they're in PA no less).

It's also the only country I know that has female metal festivals in which all of the numerous performers, singers AND musicians, are female.
Just to name a few of them: Show-Ya, Aphasia, Aldious, Mary's Blood, Destrose, Yellow Machinegun, Bridear, Gallhammer, Galmet, Lovebites, Cyntia, and the wonderfully named Flagitious Idiosyncrasy in the Dilapidation.
And that's just some of the metal bands, not the rock, punk, pop and other acts. That's pretty cool.

Tricot is my favorite atm.
