Thanks for moving my poll over here. Thumbs Up

I noticed Psychedelic Rock is listed as a Prog-Rock sub-genre on Prog Archives, so at least I posted my second Psychedelic Rock poll in the right place. Smile

Only if the majority of those bands are found in the Archives under a Prog category (a prog Rock focus as used in PA). It's not just about psychedelic rock, but acts deemed psychedelic progressive rock. That said, I have moved a little outside of the PA box when making Prog polls by including ones in a longer list not in PA if I felt they fit (technically, all options in prog polls should be included in Prog categories in PA).

I'm still mystified as to who that half-naked man is holding the gun in your new avatar image. Even Freddie Mercury wouldn't have dressed that outrageously. Tongue

His name is Bond, James Bond.

Actually, it's Sean Connery from the John Boorman film Zardoz (1974)-- more correctly, I should say, it was a publicity still for the film. It's an avatar I used for a long time before, and has been something of a favourite of posters around here. ;) That and my old Nigel Tufnel one. It's a much derided film that I love, but do use the avatar for humour value.

"You have been raised up from Brutality, to kill the Brutals who multiply, and are legion. To this end, Zardoz, your God, gave you the gift of the Gun. The Gun is good. The Penis is evil. The Penis shoots seeds, and makes new life to poison the Earth with a plague of men, as once it was. But the Gun shoots death and purifies the Earth of the filth of Brutals. Go forth, and kill! Zardoz has spoken!" (Zardoz).

At the forum I belonged to before this one, I was sometimes called the Zardoz guy as it's a film I could go on and on about. It commonly makes worst lists, and people say "What the hell was Sean Connery thinking?", but I really enjoy it, and think it much better than its reputation despite any ridiculousness (partially because of it). The final scenes genuinely move me.

Haa! Mystery solved. Thanks Logan. I've been wondering who it was ever since I saw that picture. I don't think Sean Connery will ever live it down and I expect he feels embarrassed now to be reminded of that movie. I've actually seen Zardoz years ago but I don't remember seeing Sean Connery dressed in that outrageous outfit in the movie.
He looks like a reject from the Village People. Tongue

Fanny and Runaways are awesome. I'll take Runaways.

I see your explanation why Heart was included, but they're no more a "female" band than Fleetwood Mac are, so I'm pretending they're not here.  LOL

Slits and Warpaint over all of these (I know). I love case/lang/veirs even more, but they use men. (Booh!)
Do more bands ladies, the overall number is still embarassing!

First vote for The Go-Go's. Childhood favorite. I also liked Culture Club back then. Early to mid eighties.. good times.

I actually liked Culture Club, too.  Guilty pop pleasure.  They reminded me of 60's pop/Motown with Boy George's soulful voice.

Guilty pop pleasure absolutely. And I still consider Colour by Numbers a great album, don't care what anyone says.

Four Non Blondes unfortunately never made a second album Ouch

Sorry, I neglected to include 4 Non Blondes & the Slits and I'm unable to add them now. Unhappy

Nah, I was mentionning The Slits becauuse of their name and their first album's artwork

OK, as for ruling out Heart or Fleetwood Mac, I was hesitating between Birtha and Fanny, so I went for the first... after that I did like some of the Bangles too.

Speaking of Fleetwood (Mick), weren't The Corrs an almost all-female band as well?
Female-fronted "prog folk" (in the wider sense of the concept) include The Moulettes (in the 10's) and Medieval Baebes (90's)

you may want to check them out

Yeah, you're right Sean, The Corrs would qualify for inclusion in my poll, if I'd remembered to include them. Smile

Amen to Culture Club and to Colour by Numbers specifically. No need to feel guilty... there’s at least three of us!

I don’t know much about the Runaways, but my vote would be Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, although as far as I can remember there’s never been more than one woman. But what a woman!

Of these, went with Heart though I always had a little crush on both Belinda Carlisle and Susanna Hoffs as well as a big one for Go-Gos guitarist Jane Wiedlin.

I bought Culture Club's "Colour By Numbers" album too, but gave it away a lot later because I felt embarrassed to own it. Tongue

I was thinking of including Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, until I realised she's the only female in the band. Tongue

It looks like Heart is running away with the poll so far. I wonder how The Corrs would have done if I'd remembered to include them. Smile
