yeah... if McConnell wasn't such a living breathing piece of dog sh*t one might actually feel sorry for him.
the poltics of impeachment when this reaches the Senate are going to be facinating.. and considering how word is leaking about how nervious Trump is about this. I think he understands as we do that acquital.. is not the slam dunk most think it is. Party loyalty only goes so far when you are staring at the abyss... acquit a President that even those in his own party think is pathetic excuse for a human being who is highly likely to get landslid out of office in a year... and lose the Senate next year.. as the math next year is not too far off what the Democrats faced last year... a lot of vulnerable Republcians in blue and purple states. And an even worse map to look forward to in 2022 where there are even more blue state Republicans up for reelection... or convict the f**ker.. and perhaps save the Senate.. and have a better chance of keeping the White House. Yet.. having to face 'Trump voter'. no good options at all.. but that is the bed they made by spreading their legs for him and not reigning him in earlier.

![]() yeah John.. I think he is toast..thought he was after the first debate.. and got solidified once this whole Ukraine thing blew up.. innoncent or not... even a whiff of impropriety on top of everything else just greases further the long slow guide path he has been on out of front runner status... it really does become apparent not to those who have been paying attention.. they don't support Biden.. but finally getting through to those that haven't paid much attention so far out from the first ballots next year that Biden isn't just old and past his expiration date and out of touch with the party.. but his whole premise for running.. is completely blown. That he is the best suited to beat Trump.. in fact.. he might be the one Trump has the best chance to beat. Which again I've broke down many time over the last few months. Zero passion or energy for him..he really has no idea.. nothing he is running 'for'... and as we saw with HIllary in 2016.. the lack of that.. can be fatal ...

actually we had a interesting disucssion at work about this today.
why? Why did Trump do this.. haven't really read much from teh pros on that particular angle. He just didn't cross the line .. he rubbed it out.. even the not fully tuned in don't need to hear Trump NOT say pro quid pro quo to know that is exactly what his words were saying.. that is why his attempts at defense are failing and support for impeachment are gaining.. across the political board. This wasn't Russia.. with murky allegations.. but his own words.. and with professionals (not politcal types) blowing the whistle saying.. a President can not do this... was it a gross political miscalculation ... risking his Presidency or even just what little of positive legacy he has left...to dig up dirt on someone that well before late July was on his way out from being the likely opponent next year... or the other factor which I brought up... I read that after Warren's surge in the polls last spring.. after being left for dead during the winter.. that Trump enlisted the right wing character assassination squads to go after Warren. Pros they are hahah Yet.. what was there to find. not a goddamned thing.. she is in fact the anti Trump. and why she is will so hard to beat next year. She is not a politician.. an outsider who hasn't milked the swamp or has kids off in Ukraine for god knows what reason other that profitting from politics as usual haha... and no years of record to pick at ... so all they have they have already blown.. the whole DNA thing and that is water long under the bridge. There really is no dirt to be had on her.. my theory at least.. but Trump being Trump... guess he couldn't resist the urge to dig up dirt and play dirty pool on Biden. Really makes no sense why.. but again I guess par for teh course.. he is a slave to his mental demons and ego.. and yeah.. really does think he was above the law. Man oh man is he likely in for a very rude awakening. As we noted earlier.. and history is a very clear guide.. the law come down extemely hard on not just those that break the law.. but even harder on those who do so while violating the public trust. The silence out of the SNY branch of the FBI has been deafening the last year.. just waiting for him to get out of office before they nail him to the wall..

"I want to see Trump debate Biden"
If you want to see old men argue about a world that has left them far behind you could always go down to Houston and visit the place where my parents are staying. I'd much rather see Pete Buttigieg debate with Donald Trump (could be done as an Intelligence Squared US debate). Edited by Logan - October 11 2019 at 10:49 |

It would, and could be very frustrating too. As American Squared {edit, I mean Intelligence Squared} US writes, "Let's restore critical thinking, facts, reason, and civility to American public discourse." Or as Neil deGrasse Tyson rather glibly said, "Let's Make America Smart Again." To me a good debate isn't so much about having winners and losers, it's about having rational points, and interesting perspectives, made by both sides done in the spirit of honesty, charity (the principle of charity being an important component in much formal debate), and inquiry. Too much so-called debate deals in straw-manning, rather than steel-manning the opponents' arguments. I do tend to prefer dialectic to debate per se. Something like "Is Hillary planning to run for President again in 2020!?? ............ I sincerely hope so. I'd like to see her humiliated again by losing the election for a third time in a row" goes against my values. I'd rather see people up against each other that I respect, and the best, most thoughtful and most respectable candidates by my reckoning from all parties. No clue, Logan. Buttigieg was very good in the town hall last night, re equality in America. Spot on when asked a question about being a Christian and his response to the religious right. Gotta say that Warren was excellent, also.

Trump may have more say in Vegas, which may skew things, but I think that the Intelligence Squared audiences are commonly quite erudite themselves. I didn't hear that town hall. Would love to hear that debate with Warren, and will seek it out. Glad you brought that up. Thanks.

Not a debate per se, more questions from the audience to one of the candidates at a time. It was on CNN last night.

Sorry, I misspoke, I'm familiar with town halls. I think the leaders should do them regularly to help keep in touch with the public, as I don;t think it's good when they get too isolated and surrounded by yes-men/ sycophants. On a side-note, I do prefer our parliamentary style as the leaders have to regularly face their opponents in parliament (one can find some very immature antics, and it's quite often not that enlightening). |

Yes, we've seen what happens when people are surrounded by toadys. Or is that toadies? Anyway, you get my drift. It's never conducive, in politics, business or the arts, for that matter.
