I can't help but wonder why there are now 2 extra topics of 45 discussion. Seems like on a prog site one politics topic should be enough (even though I contribute, I know some think none would be more appropriate). Unless people want to start extra topics of "the other side," that is...which I actually wouldn't want to see, even though I'm among that number, hoping that 45 doesn't become an LP.

I just figured out what you meant by "45" ....... He's a Long Player and I'm sure "45" will still be President in 2025

I'm thinking about merging all of those Trump topics into one (would be something of mess to read through, though, and it's time consuming to do so), though I suggested in the In Trump We Trust one, Coulter of course completely changed her tune and says that she was bamboozled by Trump, that that title be changed to a "Books on Politics" topic so it isn't about Trump particularly. We already had a book thread anyway. I spent some time trying to list some books on politics that I have found worthwhile, but I wouldn't be interested in reading Coulter's (I can't stand her and prefer the more academic books and the classics). Or I could just lock all but one of them, which would be much less work.
When Trump was elected we had a bunch of Trump topics, and I shut down all but one of them, which displeased some people.

Thanks...I can see multiple topics of artists (esp because one might get buried until new releases come out and not being able to find the original topic of that artist, etc), but this is kind of a non-music thing. I would feel the same about multiple topics about the opposing political force, just seems more fitting. I don't mind seeing viewpoints opposite of mine, lets me know what others are thinking, as long as no one starts getting mean about it.

I'm willing to bet that psychopaul ain't English, ain't a prog fan, and certainly ain't here to do anything but troll and spread the disease.
Do you get paid for this, Paul? Or are you just another bored, jobless right-winger who believes you're the only legitimate recipient of food stamps?
You're too invested in splattering the walls with politics that have nothing to do with you.
You've hit all the same tired notes to be found on every other place on the wb, offering nothing new from the world of Trumpism. All noise and no substance.

^ the admins would sus him out if he was posting a bogus locations... didn't they check Ompha and trace her IP to that hotel room across from the Kremlin. I hope I rememeber that correctly.. damn sure a waste of many fantasies of her posting at Putin's behest and doing so while while wearing a nightie that leaves little to teh imagaination..
god bless Russian bots and GRU agents...
anyhow...
couple of interesting observations this week...
one.. the Democrats are going to blow this impeachment completely.. agree with some of the more in tune pundits.. it is goign to descened into a mud slinging match.. the smart thing to do.. and to be hoenst.. I'm suprised Pelosi hasn't .. so far.. is handle this as they did Watergate and blunt one of Trump's great (and perhaps only) defense.. the illusion that is a partisan affair.
though as I've said before.. failure to impeach him honestly is a big win for the Democrats. Sorry Trump and Trump fans. .this is not 1998. No one outside of your bubble thinks this is a partisan poltical move like nearly everyone saw the Clinton impeachment as.. dubious legal and constitional grounds and centered on a purely personal reason.
don't see any political gain to the Republicans .. other than actually having Trump impeached. Thus the utterly bizare reality.. it is the Trump years so perhaps that is and has been the new normal. That failure to impeach is teh best thing that can happen to the Democrats.. and success in impeachment. .the best thing that could have happened to the Republicans.
wierd sh*t isn't it... but it is the truth..
2nd poiint..... ahhh.. Warren's message is finally beginning to resonate and is starting to show in the polls with black voters. Makes all the sense in the world... one can talk of repatriations.. and going back to the feel good Obama years... but what would really change.. not a goddamned thing..
but what really plagues the black community are deep systematic issues.. primarily of course educational and economic....and Warren is the only one talking about making real chances that would directly affect the black community... younger blacks are really starting to see what she is about it seems and if she can take even a good chunk of the black vote.. she wins the nomination. She really is on a roll...

Yeah, he's in Nottingham. There are quite a few Trump supporters in the UK -- a great many of them are UKIP, Brexit supporters, EDL supporters... Our poster from Sheffield, England, Matthew _Gill, who collected tactical flashlights (and knives?), had the world's largest cat, he really did I saw it in the Guinness Book of World Records, was also of that persuasion. He wrote: "Trump is a godsend for the US, in the UK we have a Jihadi sympathiser called Jeremy Corbyn in the running who might sell us to Saudi Arabia." He was a fan of Tommy Robinson: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=119549
I already posted this video, but this took place in London:
By the way, things like the terrorist attacks, and migration from Africa etc., galvanised a lot of support for the far right and people such as Trump in England and continental Europe. There has been a lot of fear and the idea that only such people will stand up to a danger that threatens not only people's safety but Western culture/ civilisation. There has been much anxiety too over immigration generally.

^ yeah I have him pegged as a transplant.. expat or whatever the hell they call them.
An American though.. I mean seriously.. if he was English.. it isn't exactly like they don't have enough going on there .. especially for the nut cases to go on about without plastering Trump posters and MAGA signs in your bedroom man..
I did fail to mention #3) noteworthy news this week.... Bernie.. health.... complete toast... always was i suppose. High floor.. low ceiling.. but curious how much of the floor shifts to others... and that was the other really interesting data point that evolved over teh summer. Warren has become the 2nd favored choice of supporters of every single other candidate. Including Biden... I think that might have been teh first clue about the shift in the black communites views on her. Not suprrising again.. Warren might be tagged.. and sure as hell would be in a general election as a flaming N.E. liberal.. but she was a Republican for most of her life.. ie.. is much more conservative than most part time or detached voters than people think. Much as the black demographic is.. what little is left of the conservative or even moderate Democratic Party rests in large part with the black vote.

It's a national populist movement that spans continents, and Trump is one of the posterboys/ girls: Trump, Marine Le Pen, Salvini, Geert Wilders is linked in that, Steve Bannon, Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson to whatever extent. They all share similar concerns. There's been a surge in the far right in Germany, Sweden, Spain, France and many other countries as people feel threatened. Part of it is the fear of the Islamicisation of Europe, as the terror attacks and Jihadi/ extremism has got so much coverage. They see an ally in Trump. And there's a common hatred of political correctness. Like you said, people want a return to the good old days, not economically really, but socially. The days when the Doctor in Doctor Who was a man, and her companions (or fam as she calls them) weren't so ethnically diverse. Forget about the Jihadists, now if that doesn't provoke far right extremism in the UK, what will? ;)
Spelling is one way to see if someone's American or been American, though the spelling may have been "Anglicised" after transplanting.

Yes, I really am from Nottingham, England, despite what others might think, so "Anglicising" my spelling comes naturally to me. I'm a big supporter of all of the right-wing politicians you mentioned:- Trump, Marine Le Pen, Salvini, Geert Wilders, Steve Bannon, Nigel Farage, and of course, my hero Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister we've been waiting for, who has a fierce determination to push Brexit through at the end of this month.
I never thought of Doctor Who as a show that could provoke far-right extremism.

Frenetic, maybe you could articulate, in your own words, just what he's done to improve the nation.
Not the grand ideas he sells at his compost rallies, not the slogans and hashtag drivel that has replaced facts and evidence for right-wingers. Share some specifics. Otherwise, if all you're gonna do is plop some memes down, you may as well be talking out of your...well, let's just refer to it as your Don Jr.

Wow, you're the Trumphant here. Yet you fail to impress your title's missing letter; "I".
As I said, I don't waste my time and emotions to hate Trump, yet If I were an American, I would definitely write and follow my own motto, which is:
Dump, The comfortably dumb Donald Trump
I'm against the status quo, yet I would only support a "game changer", if I believe in his/her ethics.
So nationally I'd never support Erdoğan On a large scale, I'd never support Trump.
My ideal is anarchism, yet I'm not dumb not to support a leader which would make a difference in a good way.

I also considered making a thread about my complaint concerning the interest of many in everything American, anyway I'm not motivated enough. That means my complaint is not that intense, I suppose. Perhaps a sign of being middle-aged.

Seen from Europe:
Almost 4 million jobs created since election. Numbers. Where are they from? In Italy we had a premier saying 1 Million, but if you end a contract and open a new one he was counting twice. If you lose a permanent and have 1 month job you are counted 1.
More Americans are now employed than ever recorded before in U.S. history. Same as above. Wiyhout reliable sources it's just numbers.
More than 400,000 manufacturing jobs created since President Trump's election. Again. The quality of jobs should be taken into account, too. I know that without health insurance you can get bankrupted there.
Manufacturing jobs growing at the fastest rate in more than THREE DECADES. Numbers, still numbers...
Economic growth last quarter hit 4.2 percent. I quit saying "nubers.." the concept should be clear...

Well, I'm tired of commenting each line. Just let me say that after the new taxes on the Italian import I'm acting to boycot all the American products: McDonalds, Coke, IBM (they are good at boycotting themselves without my help), Apple and so on. If it's war what you want, war you'll have. We can buy minerary products from China, Gas from Russia without bothering on the USA. And we are just a small Country in the European Union. I hope the whole EU is able to apply the same rules to the American exports.
I have just bought a couple of Huawei smartphones, just because Trump doesn't like Chinese products, and if possible I would fuel my car with Iranian gasoline.
