Would have written in BSS but I just went with the choices. Topo doesn't get enough love, anyway.

1973 was stacked, yo.

The correct answer is (of course) Tales From Topographic Oceans.

I am surprised that no one has caught this. But Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon was released in 73. That would get my vote.

1973 was a great year for prog of course , might be the best although I often think 1972 was a smidgen better , but tough call.

These other albums from the year haven't been mentioned

In A Glass House - Gentle Giant
Six Wives of Henry VIII - Rick Wakeman
Ashes Are Burning - Renaissance
Photos Of Ghosts - PFM
For Your Pleasure - Roxy Music
Solar Fire - Manfred Mann's Earthband
3 - Focus
Inside - Eloy
See See The Sun - Kayak
Air Cut - Curved Air
Felona E Serona - Le Orme

and many more of course!

I think Selling England by the Pound somehow deserves it. I might be more impressed with Larks, but King Crimson have a number of similarly great albums in my book... While SEBTP is No. 2 Genesis effort and probably has even more iconic status.

I'll take Gong, because FT and AE makes it a double album

Easy to discard Yes and Tull albums... easily amongst the worst of that year.
