As a descendant of native Americans, I have to say something about this great composer. We all know about his folk-rock days with The Band. But has anybody listened to his solo projects he's done? I'm not writing this to get him included in the archives, but he has done some of the most beautifully done abstract work that has gained respect from the likes of people like Peter Gabriel, Jon Anderson, Brian Eno, Terry Bozzio, U2, Manu Katche, Tony Levin and so on who some have collaberated on his albums. He holds a special place in my heart. Only 4 solo albums and they're fantastic. They are:

Robbie Robertson
Storyville
Music For The Native Americans
Contact From The Underworld Of Redboy

If you haven't heard them, get them! They're incredible!

hey, great choice!  I have some of his stuff ... a friend did a comp of all those solos albums for me  mainly culled from Music for The Native Americans. He's not very well known here which is a shame as  I really like his stuff!

... now you've inspired me to dig out the CD as its been a while since I listened ... now where did I put it ... its definitely somewhere here   amongst my 1500 ...er ...oh sorry ...  ...

I shall definitely  play it again

You're right up my alley Felona. Not a lot of proggers really appreciate his work. Some people do give him the compliment of being a genre all his own though like Zappa, Beatles and Pink Floyd. And I agree on that. Certianly one of rock's most under-appreciated geniouses.

ok, hold on a sec.....I think the best track is track 4. An intrumental he does with a flute where his guitar hits the higher registor and meshes with the flute. Listen to it and you'll know what I mean. I'm listening to it right now. It's called The Vanishing Breed.

Ok, it's finished. Isn't that incredible!? Checkout his 1st album, he's got Peter Gabriel, Tony Levin and U2 on that. I think that is one of best albums of the 80s. Oh alright. You've got 1500 cds! But not that one! Gotcha!

Yeah just keep rubbin it in! I'm up to 830 now, so I'm on your heels. Big deal! Oh, checkout a Yank prog band from the 70s called Happy The Man if you haven't already done so with your 1500! It's Friday here anyway, and your company keeps me awake.
