Prove it Bald Jean.  That's your unsupported opinion.   Show me some proof.   What constitutional amendment did Trump disappear?   Last I looked, all the amendments are still LAW.

I am not so certain about this. what if he declared a national emergency? have a look at this article:

I really can't believe that this country.. with its history can elect a black man ...  and suspected Muslim hahah.. to be President and not a woman.  I just can't believe that David.. and again.. it really doesn't matter what the morons and neatherthals think.. it is Democrats..  if they get out and vote..  they win.  Simple as that.

The no. 1 news channel in America still has, unless I am mistaken, those translucent glass tables designed to let viewers see the legs of female newscasters wearing short skirts. So much for the crusade against Ailes. And it's not just Fox. Chris Matthews openly flirted with Erin Burnett back when she was in CNBC. This is not normal in many other countries and normalising it has consequences. So, yes, misogyny is a huge barrier to jump over for most female candidates.

That said, the issue is also of Democrats not yet grasping Trump's style or working out a way to counter it. In tennis, there is a term called losing on your own terms. Typically consists of a serve volleyer rushing to his death against a baseliner picking him off over and over. Seems to me as if Democrats are setting themselves up for something like this. Like they are not prepared to get dirty to beat Trump. Trump already has Sleepy Joe and Pocahontas ready for Biden and Warren. What's the counter going to be.

well..  who is is playing to with Sleepy Joe and Ponchohantus ... his own supporters. Red meat for the meatheads to get them fired up...

how to counter that easy.. to fire up Democrats? HAH!!!!  if we want to go G rated..  how about some heartwarming campaign ads showing children in f**king cages.. or if we want to go hardcore... how about some that video footage from inside WalMart..with a montage of his speeches over the sounds of gunfire

your point is taken though.. what is different this year is hinted at by those numbers I posted several pages ago.  Trump has become SO polarizing .. and has made exactly NADDA.. ZIPPO.. NO effort to appeal to anyone but his own supporters.. there are very few that are undecided about Trump. He is either loved.. or hated... and as I've said a hundred times already.. and likelly will another 500 times in the next 18 months. 38-43% of the vote.. those that love him/support him gets you massacred in a general election.  Even Mondale got a higher percentage as a point of reference.

It goes back to what I've been saying..  this is all about Democratic turnout.. if the Democrats don't f**k this up.. or even if they do and the potential worst cases don't happen and Biden doesn't fall asleep on stage.. or f**king fall dead hahah...  Trump has pretty much no chance to win.

that is hte significance of 2018...  it was the highest turnout ..ever...  it was a dress rehearsal of 2020 and as we have seen. Trump has gone even further off the rails..  and then there is the economy.. that recession likely isn't waiting until Nov 2020..and when it hits.. he likely loses ANY chance to win.  He'll likely go permanent sub 40.. which unless there is a split in the Democratic Party/viable 3rd Party candidate.. Trump will have no chance if the one thing he can point to as a successs.. goes underwater..

and it is going to .. soon it appears

Historically, presidents have lost mid terms and still won re-election.  That in fact is the norm.  So as of now, I am not going to look at the mid terms as an indicator of how the presidential election will pan out.  It remains to be seen how people will react when there is a name and a face to the Democratic Party candidate and whether they would still turn against Trump. As I mentioned earlier, I see better prospects for them in the House and maybe even the Senate with the slew of GOP retirements and low popularity of some Senators including Moscow Mitch.  To that extent, they could significantly curtail Trump even if he wins re-election.

That would be a beautiful sight, his people pleading with him to just let it go, and him with a handful of psychopath staffers and maybe Mitch McConnell sheepishly by his side, the Trump "legacy" ruined in a matter of days.

Now that's good TV.

Look at yours my friend..  no poll showing Trump trailing is going to asauge the fear that Trump will pull a royal flush out of his ass. Democrats are very likely to show in great numbers much as they did in 2018. Only in a few worst case scenarios might the Democrats no show.. and only then will Trump have a chance at a 2nd term.

Absolutely--  no fears assuaged on my part, and no poll will curb those fears.

and that is exactly why Trump is extremely unlikely to win next year..  that dude who accurately predicted several months out.. within a seat.. the results of the 2018 election mentioned that in their 2020 preview. Which also I may add .. mirrored almost exactly the one I did 6 months earlier.  my conclusion mirrored his for the most part.. Trump has as much chance of wnning relection as we have of becoming porn stars for short of the inexplicable.. Democrats are turning out in force and if they do.. Trump has next to no path to 270

there will be no over confidence. .and that fear of the evil dark sorcery of Trump pulling another election win out of his ass.... is exactly what will drive Democrats to the voting booth.. thus giving Trump next to no realistic chance short of a historic meltdown by the eventual nominee..  but is that what Trump is planning upon.. hoping for..  never made sense to me.

the thing that for the longest time left me scratching my head was trying to put myself in Trump's head.. and wonder just what is he thinking.. is he thinking that alienating roughly 60% of the electorate is a winning strategy? Sure.. only if half of the 60% get out and vote. Of course he merely spends his term driving those voters to want him gone at nearly all costs.  What a hot mess ....

I guess the answer finally dawned on me one day...  normal politics don't apply to him any more than basic empathy.. or normal mental agility.

He really is purely and simply...  a narcissistic psychopath...  so bad he can't even get past his all encompassing need for self gratification that he gets to playing to his MAGA nation and his rallies... to see the bigger picture and the need to appeal to more people than that....and what was needed to do to win a 2nd term baring a one in a hundred kind of collapse from the other side, which still at this point, still might not save him LOL. Just blows me away.. really does man...

Trump? The freakshow that keeps on giving..  and will after he leaves office he continues to take center stage as our first President to see the inside of a jail cell in a Federal Penitentiary.  Zero chance of a plea deal being offered.. not after what he has done and said about ..well.. about everyone but especially the judiciary...or taken of course (as he would actually admit wrongdoing. and Trump does not admit that. Period). and there is a big example to be made of him.

While money, wealth and fame can get celebs out of trouble.. but they get public servants.. who violate the public trust...nailed to the f**king wall.

But that is not the lesson to be taught here nor intended for politicians.. but instead for the f**king idiots that voted for him... next time.. think before you vote. Real Estate con men and Reality TV show stars.. who happen to also be.. ummm..  psychopathic are probably not a wise choice for President (or city dog catcher) no matter if they have an R next to their name.

The US Marshals would be brought in and they'd take him away in shackles.   No president no matter how popular would be allowed to just hang out in the White House and pretend he's still in office.   No president ~ not Kennedy, Reagan, Obama or Bush ~ would've just been allowed by the people or the government to ignore a lost election like some stongman.

At least we do have that.

Everybody knows that the creepy clown will never admit it if he loses. He will play the victim and will tell that the dirty dems have cheated or something like that. However, one thing is for sure, he won't leave voluntarily.

You're in deep trouble with this guy folks.

No no, not because she's a woman.   What I mean is that if a Donald Trump can win the presidency once, some fairly unknown progressive intellectual ain't gonna cut it.   It just ain't--  Trump has too much support from people who vote and who continue to embrace a territorial Not-in-My-Backyard attitude.

ahh.. was the first thing that jumped to mind when I read your post. Raff and i last weekend had a rather .. umm.. 'animated'  LOL discussion about that very topic..  misogyny and our politics.  Think I'm rather intense online.. discuss politics with me in person.  Think there were more than a few times I nearly shattered my beer bottle on the table when making an emphatic point. LOL  I'm much more laid back and easy going than Raff in pretty much everything.. but politics.  Even after all these years it is a side to me that Raff probably still hasn't got used to.

as far as what you meant... David..  my point is.. and it is valid one as it not opinion per se.. but born out of hard numbers and data. Trump did not WIN the election... HRC lost it... or more to the point. .those very progressives..  gave teh election to Trump by still being pissed about their idol being 'f**ked over' by the DNC and HRC .. or for the more mature of his substantial number of followers..  profound policy and ideological problems with her.. what she stood for.

add in to that cocktail.. the general notion that HRC had it in the bag.. and that their votes were not needed. And let's face it.. be completely honest.. did ANYONE.. anyone really expect in their worst appraisals of Trump to match the reality of what we got.

I mean seriously..  if the D.A. in El Paso had a pair.. he'd charge Trump as an accessory to murder.

if anyone claims to have foreseen .. our the President even being considered as a possible or likely inspiration to mass murder.. I will call bullsh*t and hound their asses off of the forum as only I can.

2020?  Unlike 2016 we now know what we really feared is much worse.. and more to the point..  he did get elected in 2016 so any sense of complaintcy is ..  f**king ZERO haha..  look at some of the comments here. I can't see him winning without help from Russia. If he had enough supporters to help him getting elected(Russia aside)I'm guessing he has even fewer now(especially if there is any truth to the polls).

Even if Trump winds up getting his ass handed to him in 2020, everyone that is anti-trump should be of the mind that his reelection is possible to likely and mobilize to get as many people as possible to get out there and vote, especially if you live in one of the key 5-8 states.

(That said, no outcome this year will surprise me. Trump could win yuge, lose yuge, barely win, or barely lose and it will make sense to me)
