This thread has morphed from obscure discoveries to new discoveries, but there are still a lot of obscure bands posted (eg. I only discovered Manes last week, and Godsticks are also a pretty obscure UK band).

It's funny what some people consider obscure on here.
 I guess if your only definition of not obscure is Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd and Rush then yeah they are obscure.

Haven't posted for a while, below are a couple of recommended recent releases: 1) Kingcrow, new album The Persistence, a solid follow up from their previous release. 2) The Pineapple Thief, Dissolution (featuring Gavin Harrison from Porcupine Tree), another good release although perhaps not at the level of Your Wilderness 3) This one is a lot more obscure but is getting a lot of repeats on my playlist, Australian band Alithia from their new release The Moon Has Fallen. Check them out! |

For such a large country (especially in the Anglosphere), US bands are very under-represented in my playlists - I prefer the Euro / UK sounds. However here is a US prog band Head With Wings from their latest album From Worry To Shame. Edited by deandob - August 11 2018 at 17:49 |

I see Coheed on this list. No idea if anyone has suggested it yet, but the two most Coheed-esque bands I've found are Thank You Scientist and The Dear Hunter.
