Both equally, although these days it's more PT than SB. I don't seem to have the same passion for the Beard that I did about 10 years ago.

Porcupine Tree, though the later Spock's Beard CDs are more mature and have a little more personality than the Neal Morse's era.

Definitely Pork Your Pine Tree (erm, Porcupine Tree) if I had to choose between them as I quite like some of the music such as Voyage 34, but I went with "I Don't Like Either" because I never got into PT despite trying a few albums (very tepid appreciation). Spock's Bored (erm, Spock's Beard) I really disliked after purchasing Snow back in maybe 2004 or 2005 after it was recommended to me because I liked Genital Giant (erm, Gentle Giant) and was looking for more modern music. I bought it without sampling first. I soon discovered Mirror-Your-Door (erm, Miriodor) on my own, which did scratch the itch that I had. I think I came in with the wrong expectations, subsequently some Spock's Beard music was pointed out to me that I could appreciate, but it very probably will never be a go-to band for me, and nor will Porcupine Tree (there are just thousands of acts that I'd rather listen to and explore).

Porcupine Tree wins it by a wide margin for me. I'm not a fan of Neal Morse's singing while PT is one of my favorite bands ever.

PT easily for me...

He neither drank, smoked, nor rode a bicycle. Living frugally, saving his money, he died early, surrounded by greedy relatives. It was a great lesson to me -- John Barrymore

^ Yep, I've even tried Ream Theater but I'm more of a Horny Cow, Spermy Handcock, Smegma (with Darth Vander on drums), Tonguederine Ream, and Ass Ra Tempel fan.

^ maybe we should stop this 'esprit de bottine', some aspergian superfans might take it personal and will surely go cry to the admins.

If PT went in a different direction and didn't become more metallish then I possibly would vote for them and just them. However, it was their metallish(notice the ish at the end of that word)direction that imo gave them a much bigger audience(for better or worse). Anyway, I voted both equal to be fair. I don't feel PT were ever head and shoulders above SB no matter how you want to slice it and how much you want to jump up and down crying about it but I do think it was close at one point. SB sort of went downhill after Neal left. Before that happened though they put out some of the best Prog rock: the next generation. ;)
