Tent Cities in the U.S. sounds like a post-rock band. I live in the Bay Area so yeah, we've got 'em. I guess when you have no where to go and you'd rather live in a group of people you mostly know and trust than some shelter or trailer park, it's a good option. Tent cities may go the way of food trucks in Portland where there are designated areas of (semi)permanence with a measure of regulation and people leasing space they keep until it's passed on to someone else. |
