Almost 10,000 homes lost in Northern California. The air in S.F. is the worst in the world right now, people walking around with masks all day, no relief 'til next week.

Never has it felt so apocalyptic. At least during the Carr fire in August we had the fog to keep the smoke above but this time we have an air inversion that pushes it to the ground. If this is the new norm i might have to leave California. Sad day indeed. Be safe. Can't even find any more N95 face masks. Everyone is sold out so using an old one but better than nothing.

Fortunately, the people of California are some of the most energetically creative and optimistically resourceful people you will ever meet, and Jerry Brown is one of the most capable leaders this country has. He has always been my number one pick for US president. Popular media stereotypes of California always miss the mark of what that state is really like.

^ you are right about Californians however Jerry Brown is a case of hit and miss. While i tend to respect his overall career he has not been a friend to the citizens of California regarding these fires.
Many of these fires have been ignited by PG & E's (our local electrical provider) negligence and after last year's fire he signed bill SB 901 which in effect immunizes their responsibility and authorizes the charging of rate payers for any potential fines or expenses incurrred related to the 2017 wildfires, so in this regard he is a typical politican that practices crony capitalism run amok and effectively smothers competing alternative energy entrepreneurs.

^ True, PG&E is always an ongoing source of complaints and corruption and Jerry is hardly perfect, I have some friends in Oakland who were terribly ripped off by some of his pro-business decisions. I was just trying to present an alternative to the usual bashing California takes in the media.

^ we appreciate your support of course
i'm just a realist who sees all things in all their swirling effect beauty and ugliness
california has real problems that deserve the criticism that they receive
but the media in general whether it be fox news or democracy now tends to be biased
and we should always remember there is a lot that the public doesn't get to see so decisions are made without our input
this is still a great state but the fact that is has become so expensive and then all these disasters makes it a less appealing place to liive every passing day. i'm getting closer to the great exodus myself after having lived here for many years.

^ indeed... nothing like Trump tantrum rebuked... and word is the reason on top of the French PR disaster and of course the midterms.... is he knows Mueller is about to go medieval on his ass.
Had wondered if that was going to hit today.. suppose he is waiting for Trump to get his answers back to him before dropping that bomb on everyone. Suppose next week... while Mueller has been quiet for the last few months oh he has been a busy beaver.

^ Trump is no Republican.... then again Republicans today are not Republicans.. what they have become.. who knows.. call it the American 'white first rich second and first f**k everyone else' Neo-fascist authoritarian party.. but whatever it is.. it is not the Republican Party of a mere decade or two ago
more importantly... Mueller is first and foremost an American where American values and our laws matter. Something Trump voter sort of forgot about.. that .. umm.. should have trumped partisan politics or personal political identification. Who cares if the man was unqualified or unfit.. he was a 'republican' and that was all mattered.

I remember talking about this some time back David. Unlike Nixon.. he can and will survive pretty much anything Mueller throws at him.. for he has been attacked Mueller and his credibility (especially indirectly through those he had working for him for over a year) and unlike Nixon and old school Republicans that were Americans first.. not 'go my team and f**k the other'.. his supporters are simply buying what he has been selling that this was a witch hunt and 'fake news' created by all that deep state bulssh*t.
the offensive started early.. for as most rational people suspected.. and pardon the pun.. where there is smoke.. there almost certainly is fire. If Trump didn't have something to hide... really hide... well then.. he sure as hell has done nothing or remotely acted like he hasn't. He has long known Mueller was a direct threat not just to his Presidency.. but something even more important to him.. his brand name. He started early on sowing the seeds of doubt among his supporters about Mueller and this investigation.. for he knew what he had to hide of course.. and correctly assumed Mueller would find it.
unlike Nixon though .only 60% of this country will really care what Mueller finds... it will be more than enough to see him out in 2020.. but not enough to see his term interrrupted either by impeachment or the 25th Amendment.

I don't see an impeachment either, so far there's much less hard evidence than in Watergate (recordings, testimonies, witnesses). Further, if real evidence establishes that Trump or staff privately made illegitimate political deals with foreigners, it would've been before the election. Whereas Nixon did his dirty work while in the WH. So legally here there may not be much of a case. The question will be how it looks, the politics of it, the optics if you will: is pre-election political subversion enough of a turnoff to his supporters, and will that even matter in 2020 or will his moderate supporters be his deathknell?

no it won't matter David. As I showed in my presidential preview... Trump is pretty much screwed unless Hillary runs again hahah.. and even then to be honest.. due to losing the educated, surbanites, and especially women since that election. .she probably would beat him. As I so impolititely noted. Trump has as much chance of winning in 2020 as I do becoming a famous porn star
the worst that might happen... for I agree.. Trump does not get impeached. He is already politically gutshot even before Mueller sticks a knife into him. He is dead meat in 2020.. and Pence scares the f**k out of anyone who doesn't swing a bible with authority at the heads of the non self rightious and hypocritical hahah
how would a Mick the Big Dick v. Trump found by Mueller of sacrificing young Hispanic virgins to protect our borders... election play out here...
as I noted in my preview.. some states will stay red even if ol Adolf were on the ticket. they will stay red regardless of whatever Mueller finds. He has his support and nothing.. not even everything he did and all that was suspected PRiOR to the election is going to stop the ignorant and racist and bigoted.. and bible toting from supporting him.
