Missing lots obviously. Mention any you like on the list, and any others (it's a Brit heavy list). Removed one, and I ad meant to include a Stephen King option, any made-for-TV King based works are includable in the King option....

You're correct about P.S. Got mixed up with another list I was doing at the same time. I will correct it. And people should feel free to vote even if they have only seen and like one of them (it's not a contest, of course).

Seinfeld? If I remember right, it started in 1989 and finished in 1998. It kinda fits in here. Great show!

I tried a few Seinfeld's, but it didn't appeal to my psychology. I think it's comparable to Peep Show in various ways (which is on my next list), but Peep Show is one that I can relate to a lot more, and I just find much funnier. The social embarrassment aspect of it works for me. Generally, I do prefer British comedies to American ones. One thing that I did't like about Seinfeld was that while I can quite like the observational qualities, I find Seinfeld so smug. I did a little topic a while back comparing a Seinfeld sketch and a Peep Show one.

The absurdist The League of Gentlemen is a different kettle of fish , but the black humour qualities of it appeal to me much more than comedies such as Seinfeld, and it appeals much more to me than shows such as The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and In Living Color. "We didn't burn him!" Dwill, I do think that you do a poll, as your tastes are more mainstream and American-centric than mine, and I'm sure you get lots of vibrant discussion happening with others. I disliked Deep Space Nine, preferring Babylon 5. I think Lexx was a more entertaining and sexier sci-fi show of the 90s (it's kind of "bad", but in a good way).



I would be surprised to see no votes for lots of these so far, but I guess that probably has something to do with the site going down. The BBC's House of Cards trilogy is brilliant. Riget is wonderful. Cracker was fantastic, in my opinion, and I loved Prime Suspect. Rick Mayall Presents might be very little known here, but it blew away at the time (showed on CBC in Canada). Others who I have mentioned The Camomile Lawn too have said that they had hated it (in the forum I belonged to before I joined this one), but it worked for me.

Another great selection, Logan - although maybe at this stage I was watching less TV and several no doubt good series (such as Cracker and The Day Today/Brass Eye passed me by somewhat).

Drama-wise, the U.K. House of Cards Trilogy was fantastic ('although I couldn't possibly comment...) and thought Prine Suspect was very consistent and ground-breaking at the time. Love on a Branch Line was lovely English whimsy - almost Ealing Comedy-like. I somehow persisted with the original Twin Peaks, and actually enjoyed it (as did my wife, surprisingly). Anyone I met with the surname Cooper still gets the backwards 'A-gent Coooper' line (sad, I know!)

Really liked Drop the Dead Donkey and Men Behaving Badly at the time, although repeat views over the years shows that they haven't aged too well. French and Saunders were hit and miss, but when they did get it right around Series 2/3, with the 'Dinner Party sketch', the body make-ups and music and film parodies, they were great!

While The League of Gentlemen is an all-time favourite (especially Series 1 and 2) my ultimate vote goes to Big Train - which has some of the best sketches ever committed to tape with Pegg, Heap, Eldon etc. top notch. The evil hypnotist, child labour, hot cakes/broth, I'm not married sketches still have me rolling around when I put the DVDs in or check YouTube. Mr Pegg hasn't done too badly, has he?

Many more you can add - but The Fast Show would definitely be near the top, along with the wonderful Spaced - although that overlapped into the 2000s and led to the team creating two of my all-tine favourite films - Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz ( although The World's End is fun too)

I didn't watch many '90s TV shows regularly, but The X-Files was one that came out on top.

Off list: Seinfeld & Red Dwarf (began in '88 but ran through the 90's), The Shining :TV series...I absolutely hate the movie which is downright silly compared to the book Wink

I'm no expert, and I wasn't going for greatest, nor would I as I have not seen most TV dramas from around the world. I merely was listing some of my favourites as I thought of them (had I put more thought into it, then I would have listed many others). That was never a favourite of mine as I only watched a few episodes of it. I would enjoy seeing your own lists.

For me the best TV drama of what I've seen I might consider to be Kieslowski's Dekalog, but to each his or her own. That said, I think terms such as greatest or best are overused.
