I did find Jane's Carpet of the Sun on a source that I cannot name here. But you will find it easily on the net. And of course, you should be able to access spotify/deezer which do offer it on streaming. She sang it quite well, matching up decently with Annie's studio cut. Live Annie took it to another level.

Sorry for answering a question directed to another. "10-4" means "Understood." It's CB radio code used by certain law enforcement, CB radio operators, and people who watch things like Smokey and the Bandit. |

Strange that someone who goes by the "handle" (nick name) "roger that" doesn't know trucker slang! oh well, "catch you on the flip side" "Bubba".

Gotcha. Well, that's the disadvantage of not living over there. I can pick up a decent amount of slang from the movies and other pop culture products but some things still elude me.

No problem roger. It's nice to see that sometimes the world is still a big place after all!

It didn't occur to me that instead of saying that 10-4 means understood, it's also trucker slang for "roger that."
EDIT: Seem to remember a slang thread that would be nice to revive. A Slang around the world would be nice, plus slang through the ages, such as, in keeping with this topic, Renaissance slang: https://www.theodysseyonline.com/renaissance-slang Edited by Logan - July 15 2018 at 09:04 |

so it turns out McCarty released another solo album earlier this year. It's more folky even country but with his intrinsic charm as always. Apparently Hawken plays piano on at least one track and even Alex Lifeson makes an appearance. I'll be adding it to the archives shortly.
here is one of the tracks from Pilgrim I mentioned edit: OMG I didn't realize this was originally a YARDBIRDS song, which comes up next on youtube when you play the above!

Nice song Ken! It's has that patented McCarty vibe. I assume this was written by McCarty who was always the more psychedelic or mystical member of the Yardbirds, depending on the era. Lol!

I finally got around to hearing the mach1's works last night. Started with best of the Yardbirds, then mach1's first two studio albums. Followed by Illusion's two seventies studio albums, McCarty's "Out Of the Dark' and the McCarty/Illusion/Renaissance(!) masterpiece "Through the Fire". Nice. :)

Yes McCarty did the Ren/Illusion name proud with Through the Fire

Opps, I suppose that's apples vs apples! Lol. Really they are the same to me, except that the Illusion material seemed more fleshed out to me and the songwriting was vastly improved.

yeah this.I felt like they really had something to offer that was similar but new, but they were just too late in the game for any sort of commercial windfall even of the modest type afforded Mach 2

*Awkward bump*
In a perfect world, with Micky Dunford passed on, Renaissance mach 2 would have its songwriting done by the great Jim McCarty. I would love to hear about half of the songs on Renaissance/Illusion's "Through the Fire" done by Annie and co. Hell, McCarty could play drums!

Wasn't McCarty also in the Annie audition? Unfortunately, though understandably, he never saw himself as part of MK2 though he did remain associated with them from the background up to 1974. I guess he just had a rapport with Hawken & Co. What I never understood is the part about Jane Relf quitting performing in 1970 and then coming back in 76 under Illusion.
