Nice selection Thumbs Up.

Talk Talk come out on top for me. I'm also a big fan of the Talking Heads and Minutemen albums.

Great albums here, I'll have to take a closer look later.

I'd add Empires and Dance from Simple Minds, if Real to Real was released in 1980 it'd be perfect (but alas, it came out on 1979. Albums that even fans of the band never bothered to listen to..)

This Heat's Deceit should be on this list, but maybe it'd dominate the list, who knows.. All I know is (and my friend agrees after I played it for him): "Deceit is THEE best Post-Punk album ever, none have ever had the experimentation like that.."

As far as the list, Japan gets my vote. Love that oriental sound.

.
I'd personally give the title of best post-punk album to the This Heat debut album or maybe The Pop Group's though they don't qualify for this poll being both released in 1979.

Thank you. Not a big fan of the Talking Heads myself. But I figured they needed to be included here anyway.

On the other hand, I love the Minutemen and have a very soft spot for "Double Nickels..."

Check the 2nd part of the poll

I voted Rain Dogs. If Sonic Youth album had been Sister, that would have been my vote.

Great bands that are missing from these both polls: Pere Ubu, the Pop Group, Siouxsie & the Banshees, the Damned, the Stranglers, Wipers.

Most of the bands you are naming released their most significant efforts during the 70s, which is why they weren't included on this poll.

Wipers might be the only one that I might have missed out.

As for Siouxsie And The Banshees, I couldn't care less about her. Leaving her out was intentional.

Anyway, there must be tons of bands for which a case could be made for them to be included here. Narrowing down the selection of course won't fulfill everyone's tastes

If you want, you can make your own similar poll. I'll gladly point out every release you are missing out.

This is just for fun. It's not the definite guide to post punk.

^Not true.
the Pop Group: For How Much Longer Do We Tolerate Mass Murder? (1980)
Pere Ubu: the Art Of Walking (1980)
the Damned: the Black Album (1980), Strawberries (1982), Phantasmagoria (1985), Anything (1986)
the Stranglers: the Gosbel According to the Meninblack & La Folie (both 1981)

All those very great postpunk/newwave albums, want also add one more:
the Raincoats: Odyshape (1981)

Maybe you should have named this polls little different way (for example some of my favourite alternative albums from 80`s) if you donīt want to hear whatīs missing.

Of course these are just for fun, so donīt you also take too serious, if someone want to mention some other great albums outside your selection.

I didn't say they did not release any albums during the 80s. Just that, to me, they had their prime during the 70s. Debatable, of course.

I don't mean to start a quarrel over a silly thing like this nor have any issues with others wanting to mention other options. It's just that all your comments here and in the other poll stroke to me as mere criticisms over my selections.

It's all good anyway.

Am torn between Remain in Light and Spirit of Eden.
I use they/them pronouns (feel free to ask me about this!)

Honorable mention to the Violent Femmes. I’m in the midst of my mid-life crisis (which we will call “Nina” for the time being haha), and I’ve probably listened to this album of teen angst more in the last year than any other album.
