RIP Hugh Masekela, Pioneering South African Jazz trumpet and flugelhorn player, composer and leading figure in the struggle to end apartheid in his home country and counter racism across the world. A great musician and a great man who will be sorely missed.

My friend John drew that sleeve pic.

MES, a sad loss, The Fall will always be leaders of an unidentified prog subgenre to me, alongside PiL and others.

The only problem I have with The Fall is they released so many albums I haven't got a clue where to start, where to go next!
But hats off to a seriously original voice.

You can't go wrong with any of these:

Hex Enduction Hour
The Wonderful and Frightening World of
This Nation's Saving Grace
Bend Sinister
The Frenz Experiment
Extricate
Shift-Work
The Unutterable

They never released anything worthy of the name after 2000 in my book

Just start at the beginning. If you get the 2005 remastered version of Live At The Witch Trials, you get bonus tracks which includes the EP that came before as well as leftovers. Then proceed to the second album Dragnet etc. They are all surprisingly good quality post-punk albums.

RIP Pat Torpey.  I knew that he was sick and had a reduced role on the band's latest album, but when I saw your post it caught me off guard.  I saw Mr. Big open for Rush way back on the Presto tour.  There are/were an enjoyable band.

I’m a bit late, but I had just re-acquainted myself with Colin on social media a couple of weeks before he died. Just a super nice guy. I was sad to hear he left us.

Very upsetting news for prog and electronic music fans. It turns out that vintage German electronic composer Adelbert von Deyen - http://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=2258 - passed away on the 13th of February. Often ignorantly dismissed as a mere Klaus Schulze clone, he actually offered some beautifully hypnotic and deeply atmospheric works that still take you on a real journey today.

R.I.P, Adelbert, thank you for leaving behind some wondrous music that many of us will treasure our entire lives.

Gah! Another 70s EM icon gone, after Edgar Froese and Patrick Kosmos. ):

Schulze clone? Only to the uninitiated. My favorite of AvD's albums is probably Atmosphere. Beautiful!
