Thanks for posting this. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the line-up. Does this festival sell-out (ie when would be the best time to purchase tickets)?

no, it doesn't sell out, as the venue has room for around 15.000-16.000 people (not sure about the correct number, as the complete area around is reconstructed at the moment).

So you can even order your ticket online one week before the festival starts (depending where you live and how long the mail needs) or you can even buy tickets at the counter at the festival.

next band is announced:

GENTLE KNIFE

The progressive rock band from Norway will perform on 15th of July 2018. Their sound dives deep into 70’s prog rock, resurfacing with a modern take on the genre. After “Gentle Knife” (2015) and “Clock Unwound” (2017), the band is currently working on their 3rd album. NOTP is looking forward to hearing tracks of all three albums during the festival.

next announcement ...

THE SEA WITHIN
confirmed for Saturday, 14th July 2018

The Sea Within – a new art-rock supergroup formed by Roine Stolt (Transatlantic, The Flower Kings), Daniel Gildenlöw (Pain of Salvation), Jonas Reingold (The Flower Kings, Karmakanic, The Tangent), Tom Brislin (Renaissance, Spiraling, Yes Symphonic, Deborah Harry) & Marco Minnemann (The Aristocrats, Steven Wilson, UK, Joe Satriani) will join us on the rock on July 14 to present their very first album - We are already thrilled to listen to the result of this unique collaboration!

Roine Stolt comments on how the project came together: “I think all it started as a suggestion from the record company - putting together a new band, starting fresh, seeing if collective writing could spawn a unique style. Call it a supergroup if you want - I think we can handle that.”

Nice line up. Trouble is I'm not a fan of 'roughing it' so can't see me going although I have been to Germany a couple of times with a friend who lived there for 25 years and loves his classic rock and prog!
BTW ''The World Soccer Championships'' WTF??  It's called The World Cup!! Big smile

It's nice to see that Andy Latimer is healthy enough to tour again (if he is touring).

guess the real official slang is Fifa World Cup, but hey, there are people out there who don't know that football is actually soccer ... :)

Nevertheless, there is a new announcement ...

TIGER MOTH TALES confirmed for Sunday, 15th July 2018

TIGER MOTH TALES – an English Progressive Rock solo project from multi-instrumentalist Pete Jones. Pete lost his sight at an early age but quickly latched onto music as a huge part of his life. Being a huge fan of Genesis and Steve Hackett it is easy to see that Pete wears his influences on his sleeve and his debut album, "Cocoon" turned into a real gem, with hints of Big Big Train and FROST*. TIGER MOTH TALES’ performance will be a unique experience for all fans of prog music.

Having Pete Jones on stage with Camel on Saturday 14th already, we decided to show his and his band mates’ talent on 15th of July 2018 as well.

The Tiger Moth Tales live shows have been amazingly well received and Pete has got some amazing musicians to back him up in the form of the band 'Red Bazar'.
Tiger Moth Tales are delighted and excited to come to Germany to perform you all

Happy New Year to each and everyone :) ... and it started with three more announcements

ANTIMATTER confirmed for Friday, 13th July 2018

For the first time on the rock - please welcome: ANTIMATTER

Liverpool’s band ANTIMATTER, fronted by long-term singer/songwriter Mick Moss has continued to forge forward on the live scene with an ever-evolving live band and performances gathered exclusively from Moss’ rich 20-year songwriting history.

Their latest release, the double DVD/CD "Live Between The Earth & Clouds" was described by Prog Magazine UK as ''essential viewing, capturing them at their very best''. With a new album "Black Market Enlightenment" in the making, the project shows no signs of slowing down.

NIGHT OF THE PROG is proud to welcome ANTIMATTER on stage on the Loreley on Friday, 13th July 2018.

THRESHOLD confirmed for Friday, 13th July 2018

THRESHOLD were formed in the leafy suburbs of Surrey, England in 1988. The band has released numerous studio and live albums. They are currently signed to Nuclear Blast Records.

THRESHOLD released their album "For The Journey" in 2014. It includes the 12 minute epic "The Box" and opening single "Watchtower On The Moon", which was featured on the Roadkill video game. The album charted in several countries, peaking at no. 19 in Switzerland and no. 33 in Germany and Finland.
In 2017, their latest output was released: "Legend Of The Shires", a double album which was well received by both, press and fans. Glynn Morgan, the band's former vocalist from 1994 to 1996, replaced Damian Wilson on that album. "Legend Of The Shires" peaked at no. 14 in Switzerland and no. 13 in Germany - their biggest success so far.

NIGHT OF THE PROG is proud to welcome THRESHOLD on stage on the Loreley on Friday, 13th July 2018.

RETROSPECTIVE confirmed for Friday, 13th July 2018

For the first time on the rock: RETROSPECTIVE
The Polish band was founded approx. 10 years ago. They are not restricted to a particular music style, but often search for different kinds of rock, ranging from "art" to "hard". Their most recent album is called "Re:Search" and was released by Progressive Promotion Records early last year and contains two singles releases, "The End Of Their
World" and "Right Way" - see video link below.

Earlier studio albums include "Lost In Perception" (2012) and "Stolen Thoughts" (2008), which were well received by both, fans and music magazines.
The band has toured with acts like FISH, RIVERSIDE, RPWL, SUBSIGNAL and LAZULI - all of them familiar names on the Loreley.

NIGHT OF THE PROG is proud to welcome RETROSPECTIVE on stage on the Loreley on Friday, 13th July 2018.

and here's the next one:

Rikard Sjöblom's GUNGFLY confirmed for Saturday, 14th July 2018

Please welcome on the rock, from Sweden: Rikard Sjöblom's GUNGFLY

GUNGFLY is the musical solo outlet of Rikard Sjöblom, the multi-instrumentalist madman behind the microphone of the now-legendary BEARDFISH.

Expect incredible vocal range, intensely personal lyrics, Sjöblom’s signature sense of complex-yet-catchy keyboard melodies, and a guitar work that spans the spectrum of folksy to downright face melting.

In addition to his solo work, Sjöblom is the most recent addition to English progressive titans BIG BIG TRAIN, who perform at the Loreley on Friday, 13th July.

The most recent album came out in 2017, "On Her Journey To The Sun" (InsideOut Records).

Rikard says: "I basically started recording songs, mainly pop-oriented material, but being the type of songwriter and musician I am, some prog slipped through the radar as well. With the break-up of BEARDFISH all of the prog-related material I write needed to go somewhere and GUNGFLY was ready and able for this step!”

NIGHT OF THE PROG is proud to welcome Rikard Sjöblom's GUNGFLY on stage on the Loreley on Saturday, 14th July 2018.

Ahh nuts. I would've loved to go see Ange live, but I gather tickets either are for the full festival or individual days?
