You should check out Bird Sound Power, Equiknoxx's album from last year. It's even more off the wall, at least compared to what I've heard from Colon Man, which I need to listen to in full.

Last really cool thing from this year I've heard was Songs by Taku Sugimoto & Minami Saeki. Very soft and sparse, mostly a Capella, but with some instruments, some objects as instruments in places, recorded in a park. I think it's even better than the Saritote Eps and live album.

As for other stuff I've been listening to, Michael Pisaro's Tombstones is v cool. I've kind of been trying to find more "Lowercase Song" type stuff. This is one of the best though. It features Julia Holter on harmonium and vocals. You can sort of hear Pisaro's influence on Loud City Song a little bit (Holter was a composition student of Pisaro's).

David Sylvian's Manafon in this vein as well.

I really need to get on with making my top 20 for 2017. I haven't even done a preliminary one this year.

that's quite enticing too, I must admit; it's rare to find something actually similar to Muslimgauze so that's quite a promise
