Poncier EP vinyl (Record Store Day Black Friday exclusive) Essentially, it's just a Chris Cornell demo EP with 'Seasons', a tie in from the movie 'Singles'. Really good!

^ Hey, good to see you again, it's been a while. How are you doing? What do you think of the new Motorpsycho and Wobbler? I still have to check them out.

Wow! I am officially jealous Simon. That looks awesome especially considering I don't already own a single album of theirs. I did however listen to a clip a little while back (most likely provided by yourself) and was immediately pulled in.
My recent purchases have all been centred around the year of our dog 2017: ZU - Jhator (Musical u-turn like no other I've heard this year. From RIO prog to experimental electronic and it sounds completely unique) EABS - Repetitions (Letters To Krzysztof Komeda) Vespero - Shum-Shir Yolk - Solar Causa Sui - Vibraciones Doradas St. Vincents - Masseducation Tusmørke - Bydyra Reflections In Cosmo - s/t John Zorn - The Garden Of Earthly Delights Aquaserge - Laisse ca Être Schnellertollermeier - Rights Major Parkinson - Blackbox Cheer Accident - Putting Off Death Mumpbeak - Tooth Electric Eye - From The Poisonous Tree

It is really quite awesome, especially for €70 shipped anywhere. A bit of a commitment without knowing their music better, though.
Quite a haul! Of those I only have the Zu, Yolk, Reflections In Cosmo, Aquaserge and Mumpbeak - all excellent. I know what you mean with Zu - I saw them play live in a basement in Camden a few years ago when Gabe Serbian was on drums and they were ALL ABOUT KICKING ARSE. Really intense set! So quite a surprise to suddenly get an ambient album Been thinking about the new Causa Sui and Vespero. But I have a lot of albums by both and....maybe enough?? Schnellertollermeier is on my list to get soon. EABS I have not heard of, but anyone who wants to pay tribute to Krzyzstof Komeda must be worth investigation. I guess you're right but I've taken those kind of chances before and they usually end up great. I'm lucky like that.
I'm planning on giving the Zu a whirl again tonight. Ambient? Sure...erm some of the time it sounds like ambient...but then again I seem to remember both pieces ending up with drums in this cathartic swoop of sound. Maybe it was just the first track? I'm not sure I was somewhere else in my mind. Either way I'm looking forward to going 'there' again. Maybe I have better luck finding my footing or maybe I just use my ears better this time. I know what you mean. I'm not sure I need anymore Vespero and Causa Sui records either. They're not THAT different from one another tbh. Oh and trust me you'll absolute love EABS. One surprise was the new Tusmørke. Man that thing reminds me so much of the type of music that filled up children's tv back in the 70s...at least here in Denmark (I'm not that old but as the 80s and 90s emerged these shows had become classics). Sorta like if Dungen had to make the soundtrack to a hippie fairy-tale for kids. P.S. Check out these cats if you ever feel like listening to some psychedelic zeuhl.

The Tower is another very strong release from these guys, from what I remember from hearing it a couple of times before their concert back in September anyway. Haven't revisited it since, need to do that soon. Haven't heard the new Wobbler yet. Actually, I've never listened to Wobbler before, so when I'll give it a whirl (probably sometime during the weekend) it'll be my first with them. A little worried they sound too much like Yes, which I'm not a big fan of, but I'm ready to give them a chance! |

The music or the remix ? I love the album, too, but my 1985 MCA edition has the original mix - to which I'm so familiar for so long, that I fear any even subtle change will sound "strange" to these ears. |
