Just given Black Country Communion BCCIV a proper listen to, and I have to say it's a fine piece of modern classic rock. Must be up there with their best efforts. Hughes's voice is more controlled for most tracks and the band seem even tighter this time around.
Prog? Can't really see much evidence. The album has a really strong Zeppelin vibe with a touch of folk and funk on some songs. Sherinian seems more involved on the keyboards and does some nice flurries, but it's very much in the vein of Jon Lord's hammond organ work in the Mk II Deep Purple era or even Tony Carey's swirlings on Rainbow Rising.
Anyway, thanks for giving me a excuse to try something fresh in the classic rock mould on my playlist, before diving back into full-blown prog (
currently working through the Hogarth-era Marillion stuff - thanks to input on another thread). So much good music...so little time!
