The same reason they buy stuff you don't like: they're not you. Are there car appreciation websites that have Progressive Rock threads?

Good advertising, of course. Kia Soul ads all seem to be targeted towards vibrant, young people with a flair for hip, urban, trendy stuff (i.e. hipsters). And sure enough, every time I've seen someone driving one, they've looked like this:

 Saab 900 turbo. It was a company car so I drove it without complaint. The same could not be said for wife, however!
