He will really be missed. I'd put the first 7 Steely Dan albums up against the first 7 by ANY artist, and I've thought that for years.

Damn right. Seven consecutive albums without a single weak track. I don't know of any comparable run in popular music.

The Dan was coming to my town in 2 weeks, and I was thinking, I'd get to see them for the first time in my life. Ironic that I was thinking about seeing them before I died. 

Gave the taste to play the whole 11 Tracks of Whack.

It's funny, there is some music that when you hear it instantly transports you to another place and time. Rikki Done Lose That Number is one of those pieces for me. Every time I hear it, I am immediately transported to my childhood home, sitting at the top of the stairs, doing homework. I use to come home from school and do my homework while sitting at the top of the stairs, listening to the radio. For some reason, this is the song that stuck with that memory. It is a good memory of a simpler time...

This one came out of nowhere for me.  I put Pretzel Logic on repeat for a couple of hours on Saturday in honor of Mr. Becker's passing.

^ Good call. Their most eclectic album imo, and Major Dude.. Barrytown always makes for a terrific one-two punch. All around great album!

Fantastic Guitarist (and bassist) big influence on my own playing, left behind a legacy of music that I can't see any band matching anytime soon. Who else can infiltrate pop music with jazz?
