Take a couple of deep breaths. Visualize, if you will, a brilliant white light.

^^That sounds like meditation. Meditation reminds me of noise music and how I've been meaning to shreddies what noise groups they like. (Already into Melt-Banana if they count)

Although I think I'm more interested in stuff without vocals

When it comes to noise you can't go wrong with Merzbow.

But also:

KK Null
Kevin Drumm
Borbetomagus
GX Jupitar Larson

Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

As you should. They make your skin bubble.

Also, I should have mentioned Wolf Eyes in my original post.

I'd say really abrasive but not avant. Maybe I should also do drone metal sometime.

ayy there we go
for some entry level stuff: Les Rallizes Denudes, Endon, Gerogerigegege, Lightning Bolt (the noisier side of noise rock/metal), any period from Merzbow really, even in his most extreme phases there is something unusually direct and transparent about his noise, and anything Voopy has done really
then: Incapacitants are my favorites, very consistent discog, jamming dynamic harsh noise, similar stuff from Hijokaidan and C.C.C.C., look for Prick Decay for well-done randomly-f**king-around type noise, and if you feel ready try to make your way through Kylie Minoise's Melted Plastic Brains Vol. 1, I think that might all in all be my favorite noise album

LRD are cool in concept and they are the OG, but Fush*tsusha plays in a similar style and I like them way more, personally.

I'll second Merzbow and Kevin Drumm. Also Wold is pretty cool.

My amp is in the back yard. I hooked a microphone up to it that sits next to the toilet.
