Oh I see. A comment from another thread taken out of context. Nope, not falling for it.

You're being unnecessarily provocative (but to type this feels so unnatural I wonder how my computer allows me to type it).

Anyway I welcome anyone who finds a suggestion on how to improve that website.

well since .. I will be the new site owner when M@X gets tired of running this site into the ground.. hopefully sooner rather than later.  There will be changes....Here is the Big MIck's plan...

1) fire all moderators with extreme prejudice... this forum self moderates better than any moderators this site has ever had.
2) terminate genre teams with extreme prejudice... that served its purpose years ago but its time has come and gone for the site.  Open admission for bands... still have to be S.C...  ie.. you have to show you know prog rock.
3) single topic music sites are so 2007... so we expand the site to other topics... and what topic does prog fan know and love almost as well as prog rock... it does go hand in hand with most..

welcome to Prog and Porn Archives...  Your ultimate Prog and Porn Resource...

and I'll be watching the website hits accumulate.. and ads? HAH!!!!   I dare even Genesis fan to use an ad blocker on my website..  the closest those losers will ever get to sex....

4) a long needed database project in which we invest the time to update this site to a different.. whatever.. whatever is needed to do tagging for albums.  NOte sure what needs to be done... I'd be the f**king owner... I wouldn't do the work.. I'd just sign the checks to make it happen.

5) oh yes....  my other major bone picking...  no f**king half stars for you reviews...  I do away with the stupid ratings period. It takes talent to review albums...  any f**king monkey had rate an album. Thus the whole process is f**king worthless and a joke...

6) on that note.. replacing the joke of a top album list with one worthy of the site.   A true top 100 list compiled not by fanboys and stupid ratings.. but by whatever f**king brain power is still left at this site.  Would have been an easier project back in the day.. but I think it can still be done

probably more than that....  but that would be a good start.  Yes...  the reign of the Big Mick was classic in the early days... if a reign of blood and terror was your thing.. but the second reign will be even better...

I'll save your f**king website....

It seems that you have misinterpreted Tapfret's comment in that other Captcha thread.

In that thread, you had said that:

That is, SteveG claimed that no words are needed to describe your position other than his emoticon, to which Tapfret added that if words were in fact needed, then "unnecessarily provocative" would be a good place to start with.

Thus, in fact, Tapfret was not claiming that nobody has made interesting suggestions in order to improve the Captcha situation, but rather making a joke at your expense, hence why he said that the quote was taken out of context.

My point is: you shouldn't be upset with Tapfret for attacking the admins, you should be upset with Tapfret for making fun of your comment!

Thanks M@X for this wonderful new implementation to the site. It's really a hoot. I know folks here tend to bitch and moan about all of this stuff, but it is surely better to protect oneself from 'malicious attacks' that most likely are out to steal all of our valuable info. Stuff like member's interests and real first names let alone all those bank and visa card codes that we all store somewhere in our profile.
I thank you for your protection. Neato.
Back to the topic. I don't believe that members think that captchas are useless, David. Its just the way it's formatted, with the test occurring during posting instead of at the time we log in, like most sites. If M@X could change the test to when we initially log in, I think that everyone would be like this: Big smile

You get my vote micky, but this is going to make looking at PA during my lunch hour really tricky, I mean all those photos and videos, I don't want other people in the office to know I'm looking at prog.

In that case I hope that the Big Mick has thought of getting rid of Google Ads. Otherwise, the photos and vids mentioned will be blurred Stern Smile

Oh thank you, thank you! I miss a part on what anti-robots and other aliens system you'd replace captchas with, but apart from that Shocked this is a program Clap

Convincing conclusion! The fact I felt it necessary to attack the other snob guy didn't help me understand Tapfret's reply that way. Thank you for going the distance and help me get closer to the Truth!!

Also add:
  • a section for us wetbacks (sorry Latinos or Hispanics) to discuss prog in our native tongue that way we can also bitch and moan about the site and others will not know what we are talking about.
  • Remove any reference to the Fab Four being "prog" Dead, worthless krapp.
  • create a girls only section...really don't know why, but whatever....LOL
  • No noobs can post till a) they pass a prog test b) been a member for 1yr c) they send nude pics of girlfriends, wifes, mistress, "the other woman" to the porn section of the site.

I didn't know about the use of "^" to refer to the above comment, and had thought of a typing mistake. The way I'd misunderstood his comment made sense. His dissing me suggested that his opinion was similar to Easy Money's, the guy that doesn't have problems and makes fun of other who have them, instead of backing suggestions for improvements.

As for having gangs after me, I'd flee rather than fight the whole World, but it all was something between Easy Money and me in the first place...

Thanks for welcoming me. I've seen you're suggesting a way to solve the test/authorization problems, so you're also waiting for the tech team to give us détails on why they prefer the current protection tool to what you and others suggested.

Hell, at this point, why don't we just shift priorities altogether? I think it's been a long time coming since we've needed Southern Rock Archives to be a thing... Big smile

As far as I know, nobody is getting the captcha when posting plain text without quotes, links, images etc. So how about we just disable all these fancy features that cause the captchas to happen?

Alternatively the current forum could be nuked and replaced with a BBS. This would have the further advantage of being accessible to people with dial-up modems.
