well I'll take it as a sign Keishiro that our fearless leader is no longer our dear clueless leader.   Good enough that he is trying to get rid of it.  He'll get it eventually.  Just not yet. Just nice to know he's finally paying attention.

I am 100% sure that the CAPTCHA crap has nothing to do with WebWiz. It is implemented deliberately on PA. MMA and JMA don't have this impemented, apparently. A forum search on the word CAPTCHA did not return results anyway.

I still don't see how this makes sense, unless the sense is annoying the posters. The poor quality of some images makes it even worse.

Ah yes, David, thank you -- Cloudflare security. I was seeming a bit paranoid. So not an evil google "AI is watching you" dystopian scenario.

I think things may improve soon.

The issue is related to M@X's use of Cloudflare to protect the site from malicious attack, spammers etc. Nothing wrong with that - other sites have been doing it for several years now, but it doesn't seem to be very well implemented on this site at all. Whether or not you get the challenge depends on your IP address and whether it has any history of recent problematic activity in one of their data sources. Read this Cloudflare support article: https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/203366080-Why-do-I-see-a-captcha-or-challenge-page-Attention-Required-trying-to-visit-a-site-protected-by-Cloudflare-as-a-site-visitor-. The captcha is triggered specifically because of the security settings that M@X has got turned on.

As I've said before, the captcha itself ain't a problem - it's the damned 'Access Denied' errors that get repeatedly thrown back at you that are destroying the site, something which has to be down to the site software itself rather than the Cloudflare protection shield....and M@X needs to address the reasons for these errors asap.

It don't think it's a WebWiz issue, at least particularly, as it seems all over the site (forums, reviews, additions, corrections....). It doesn't personally bother me with the forum, but in terms of the DB it's a real pain. I mean it bothers me that the forum is a pain to others (hardly ever hits me in the forums), but that's not what gives me the greatest troubles.

I think this may be a google captcha thing, and is more than a security issue and part of a greater experiment -- a learning/recognition process in security and other technological developments. Perhaps we are being Turing tested by AI that becomes more sophisticated all the time. Will be be deemed more human than human, and/or inferior to robots?

Please "Open the pod bay doors, M@x".

I'm 99.99999% sure that this issue is nothing to do with the Web Wiz Forums software that this site uses.

I checked three other (much smaller) forums that use the same software (version 11.01) by doing an advanced search for the keyword 'captcha' over the last six months (I didn't actually register to post in these forums - just used the familiar 'search' facility that we have on here)...and not a single result was returned  from all three searchesIf they were having similar problems to us, I'm sure there would have been a whole heap of hits returned for this search. The three forums I checked were:

http://forum.zemigame.com/forums.html
http://forum.brandonsuffolk.com/default.asp
http://forum.voicecomputer.com/default.asp

Just for information, Web Wiz Forum version 11.01 was released on 10th September 2014, and there have been nine updates to it since then, with numerous improvements and bug fixes (version 11.08 alone contained no less than 51 changes!) The latest version (11.10) was released on 21st March 2017.

It appears that it's just us that are suffering all this crap, and I am absolutely certain this problem can be easily fixed if M@X can be arsed to do anything about it.

Edit: Ten failed attempts to post the above using Google Chrome ('Access Denied' each time), so I switched to IE9. It still gave me a captcha to solve, but allowed the post to go through first time without a problem after I'd completed the test.

I have now searched the above three forums for the word 'robot' too, and again not a single hit was returned in any of them.

In another thread Keshiro mentioned this might be something not limited to Prograchives but sites that use whatever forum software we use.  Keshiro is pretty stand up..and a helluva of a guy.. even for a f**king admin LOL so I'd take him at his word.  The lack of any explanation of that.. especially the absence of our dear forum owner in explaining just what the f**k is going on with this site.. is likely attributed to a) this site was nothing more than a money maker for him so as long as the clicks and traffic persist.. he is happy and b) the site has long been on autopilot.. as long as the clicks and traffic persist..  what is the problem LOL

Testing what happens with this message quoting text.

This will help me decide whether to bother with writing up a review in another thread which fell over (I guess now due to CAPTCHA).

If it is M@x's goal to get us all to leave then this CAPTCHA thing is the perfect plan. My daily posts have dropped off significantly.
