Hello!
I just wanted to let you know that the rejuvenated 70s Brit prog-psych band The Brainiac 5 are releasing a new album Journey To X - in January. It's their second since reforming in 2012.
In case you're unfamiliar with them, the Brainiac 5 were born out of the ashes of Cornish free festival freaks the Half Human Band (best known for featuring Hawklords/Hawkwind drummer Martin Griffin) in the mid-70s. Moving to London they rubbed shoulders with various members of the Hawkwind family as well as the likes of The Soft Boys and The Barracudas. Their debut album, produced by Griffin, was released posthumously in the mid-80s through Reckless Records (Bevis Frond, Mu, Black Sun Ensemble, etc).
On reforming, they released a 10" EP on Nigel Cross's Shagrat label, before issuing a comprehensive anthology When Silence Was Sound on the specially reactivated Reckless label, with a bespoke sleeve design by psychedelic artist John Hurford. This was followed last year by the brand new Griffin-mixed album Exploding Universe.
Journey To X is their most accomplished work yet. Featuring 7 tracks (two over 10 minutes long!) it will be released on CD, download and deluxe 180g gatefold vinyl on 20 January 2017.
They'll be playing an album launch in London around that date. Stay tuned!
I'm currently sending out promo CDs and digital links and inviting requests from reviewers, interviewers and radio show hosts, primarily in the UK (CDs are in short supply!) but all considered. You can get in touch on here, via my online resource http://mulefreedom-pr.blogspot.co.uk/ or Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/MuleFreedomPR/
The band have their own Facebook presence at https://www.facebook.com/TheBrainiac5/
Many thanks,
Gerry
