I often see here and there, in old and newly added albums the following Releases Information:

Self-released

Self-reeased and nothing more.
I always want to ask: self-released what? CD, LP, wax cylinder, piece of sh*t?

Unfortunately many collabs and non-collabs think that it's a sufficient info. But according to PA guidelines (http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=73146&PID=3942757#3942757) it's not so:

4. RELEASES INFORMATION - production of the physical album

4.1 Contains data or description pertaining only to album releases [but not tracks, recording dates etc]

4.2 Each album release should be documented in the following format

        disc_type + record_company + label_reference + (release_year + country) + (comment)

            LP Atlantic K40106 (1971 UK)
            7" Decca Records F 12775 (1968 USA)
DVD Angry Penguin PEN1887 (2005 Finland)
            CD  Eclectic HBGB023 (2001 Germany)

4.4 Additional data may be appended against a release in a further set of round brackets after the date/country

CD Elektra 73788 (2003 USA) (remaster)
CD Atlantic 7567-82670-2 (1994 UK) (digitally remastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound)

4.5 No specific restriction on additional data, except that it must be brief and succinct

Guidelines aside, it's important to many PA visitors to know was the album released on CD, LP etc.

So Errors & Omissions team asks all PA contributors to point out the kind of release when adding albums.

Hello people,

Could you correct an mistake I made when including a newer Renaissance live album to the Renaissance discography which is titled Past Orbits of Dust: Live 1969/1970.

Please correct bass player's last from the incorrect Cenemmo to the correct Cennamo.

Please also enter the album label as Troubadour. Thanks, Steveg

^ Done.

In the future though, please report errors and omissions in this thread: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=82726

A link to the album which has the error would also be helpful, saves us time not having to look for it.

Thanks for reporting though. Thumbs Up

^ Don't worry, you're not the first, and you won't be the last, to report errors in this thread.

You are welcome, sire !

Next time you may want to help with errors, etc, the best place to post are the appropriate specific threads - here:

http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=82726 (errors)

http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=59458 (duplications)

and so on (there are a few more, explore at will) ...

A friend was looking through Progarchives and noticed some mistakes in my (Arzathon) Bio...Thought I'd drop by and leave the correct info .... Hope this is the right thread to post this in, not that familiar with this forum, have to say though, progarchives is one of my fav sites on the net..so big sorry if this is in the wrong thread, but hopefully the info can be passed on :)

Arzathon is Ralf Bevis, born in Germany (Dulken). Ralf has been active in the underground home taping scene since the early 80's, where he recorded and released albums under the moniker Gypsy, in addition to starting his own label, Rodent Tapes, which is still active today. Today, Rodent Tapes is to be found on the Internet Archives site (Rodent Tapes Backstage) where many free downloads are available, such as Radio Edits of tracks from albums available on is bandcamp page. These days Ralf is active as Arzathon, a experimental electronic project with many releases, a lot of them collaborations with other artists. The sound of Arzathon varies, not being restricted to one area of EM, having elements of drone, Berlin school, dark ambient, abstract and more. Arzathon's sound is usually extremely psychedelic and very entrancing soundscapes for fans of mind melting music. He also releases projects as Heavy Metal Vampires on Nuclear Waste / Trolls on Acid / Dreamtime Troubadours. Some of the artist he has collaborated with are: Don Campau, Franco Falsini, Kristianne Gale, and many many others.
Besides music projects Arzathon also works on film projects...at the moment he is working on a film about Homelessness. Info about this project can be found on his facebook group page, Homelessness, On The Frontline, In The Trenches.

Since it is at the very top of the forum people tend to notice it. It's confusing since the very first line of the first post in this thread says "This will now be the place to report errors and omissions in Band Bios and any other Prog Archives editorial information."

If you don't regularly use this thread for announcements, maybe we should lock this. If you ever need it to make an announcement then we can unlock it temporarily (it's common to lock announcements threads).

It would be good to have all of the relevant places to report both in the initial post of the thread and on this page.

Not really sure what this thread's purpose currently is, so if not being used we might not need it to be so prominent at all.

I agree, Greg, no great harm the way it is but introduces potential confusion in newcomers .
You could lock it then, IMHO.
