I only chose from Deep Purples 10+ minute songs, as that is the definition of an epic to me. My pick is Child in Time.

Child in Time will deservedly win, so I cast my vote for River Deep, Mountain High just because I think it's a great track.

I only really listen to Deep Purple mark 1 these days so April it is. The last time I heard Child in Time must've been over ten years ago.

good choices... but got to go with my favorite.. yeah Child in Time is epic and momunmental...  yes.. the kind of song you have blasting from your pickup truck as you chase tornados.. but silly old me... I love every single letter perfect note of River Deep Mountain High.  that intro slays 95% of prog epic intros...Thumbs Up

I went for April this time around; very lovely piece. I've oversaturated listening to Child in Time a little of the past few years, so I think I'll take some time off from that one.

I only know Child in Time, but I really love that one. Specially the Made in Japan version.

Hmm...I was never much of a Purple fan ( an overrated band to my poor ears...)  ,but I suppose Child In Time is the most mature work with the best Blackmore guitar parts on it.

And The Address, Mandrake Root, Chasing Shadows, Wring That Neck (doncha just love how on what finally turned out to be the version from the 69 RAH gig had them playing the others (musical parts) as a change.

Child In Time gets the vote. I liked how, again at the same gig Blackmore made it slightly jazzy. A bit like how Malcolm Arnold Symphony has some jazzy moments (60s classical?).

Mind you the whole In Rock album has that crank in my limo (old Honda) type feel.
