Although YYZ is a outstanding instrumental tune ( a track with Rush's undeniable signatures - virtuosity, originality and refined taste ) I think which La Villa Strangiato is better by far , one of greatest moments in progressive-rock history.

YYZ is my pick. Short and sweet; doesn't last a second longer than it needs to. Strangiato has some fine moments, but it doesn't have 10 minutes worth of ideas.

La villa strangiato, complex and fun, has the best Alex Lifeson solo in my opinion, and it's my favourite Rush song!

Who on earth creates a song from an airports identifying morse code broadcast pattern, and turns that into one of the most recognizable song intros of the past 30+ yrs.....Let alone a brilliant song.
Although La Villa Strangiato is a masterpiece.

I can't decide. On any day, it could either one.
A more interesting poll would be... 8-bit La Villa Versus 8-bit YYZ

Yes!! I'm so happy someone else has noticed Lifeson's guitar work on that track! My vote goes to La Villa, far better than YYZ which also happens to be excellent. |
