^^
This is the Discogs image of The Samuel Jackson Five box set I bought recently.
It includes Same Same But Different, Easily Misunderstood (2xLP) and Goodbye Melody Mountain.
The album jackets and artwork inserts are heavy stock and that round thing at the top is a turntable pad.
They went all out on this set.

Is that their most recent album, Nick? I've absolutely hit a wall with that band these days. I love their early romantic doom-metal period with `Crestfallen' and `Serenades', as well as their heavy proggier albums from `The Silent Enigma' through to `A Natural Disaster', but as pretty and atmospheric as they are now, I find their current stuff has proven to become exceedingly dreary. I got the previous two before this, but....even though I've got a lavish deluxe edition of `Weather Systems' I've never bothered listening to it properly. It just sounded like more of the same as `We're Here Because we're Here', so I assume this latest one is exactly the same again?

I can see why they've kind of had a crossover success (and it seems like a lot of people who dig Steven Wilson's stuff these days and the Hogarth Marillion discs really like the modern Anathema too), but I just find it all a little too mopey. They've actually toured Australia twice two or three times since they took this direction, and I haven't bothered going.

I only have 22 pending deliveries out there somewhere. My music room is maxed out so I'm moving some amps out to the garage to make room for shelves to hold my new vinyl. I want to keep it separate from my original vinyl collection.

Thumbs up for the new Russian Circles and The Samuel Jackson Five.  Thumbs Up

22!? And you say I'm out of control!? LOL

Haven't heard anything, bar a track or two perhaps (can't remember), from RC, but I've read great things about them, so I'm very much looking forward to checking them out.

That looks splendid. Clap

I'm only missing Easily Misunderstood now from owning their full discography (not counting the Mid-Fi Winter Wonderland EP, as most of those tracks are also on Seasons in the Hum, which I do have).

Would love to know your thoughts on this one David.  It's about time I pulled the trigger on an order with Soleil Zeuhl, and I'm a big One Shot fan, so...

Hey ho Simon! Sorry for my tardiness but I've been dealing with some monstruous kids that simply won't leave my head after work. It's so loud inside the ol cabeza that I struggle to do anything of meaning...let alone something without - such as shooting the breeze on PA fx, which I miss.

I am still warming up to the elephant as I have been on more of a Krautrock kick lately (with the odd FSOL spin here and there. Lifeforms is such a beautiful album!), but safe to say that I was a tad surprised...and slightly annoyed when I first span it. I think I was expecting something completely different - something wild and crazily zeulish. What I found instead was fiery jazz rock with overt hooks and melodies Funny how that sounds like a compliment.
It is now though. I just had to readjust a bit. Next time I give it a whirl I'll be sure to update you in here.

Sympathies - I find my job can have a similar effect, except the monstrous kids are usually wearing suits. Old enough to know better Angry

Actually that fiery jazz rock with overt hooks and melodies sounds pretty tasty to me right now.
