Topic: AC/DC Posted: December 22 2004 at 10:12 |
Sorry, I couldn't help it!
It was my first love. And I'm playing "Blow Up Your Video" right now, and lloooooooving it . I can't stand AC/DC for a long time in a row, anymore, because it's such simple music (I get a little bored), but part of my love stayed. AC/DC is THE rock 'n' roll band. Pure emotions, pure rock, pure roll, no less, no more.
What do you think?
Joren
P.S. why is it that now I listen to progressive music, the music I used to love, sounds so boring at times? AH! I'M GLAD AT THIS VERY MOMENT I'M ENJOYING AC/DC LIKE I USED TO! AAAAOOOOOOW! LET THERE BE ROCK!!!
I'm sorry, I'm sorry!

I don't really know the Scorpions, but I like UFO and Diamond Head too. AC/DC are for just the most PURE r'n'r band. Very bluesey
And I like both the era's. My favouite is, of course the Bon Scott era, but I also love some of the albums with Brian Johnson, especially Back In Black and Stiff Upper Lip.

Well I guess we all know by now that I really preferred the Bon Scott period. However I do like "The Razors Edge"... I can get the house cleaned in no time listening to that...

I know, It's only rock and roll, but I like it.
Have you heard Jim Breuer's version of the Hokey Pokey? He does a dead on copy of Brian Johnson. Totally hilarious. I tried to find a link, but couldn't. You downloaders shouldn't have any trouble finding it.

Currently kicking myself, 'cos I didn't manage to get tickets for the Judas Priest gigs next year - the return of Rob Halford - the original 'Metal God'
Now consoling myself by listening to 'unleashed in the east' at naughty volume........
But I've not got long hair anymore.........

AC/DC are fantastic - seen 'em loads of times - but never got as close as TF...
Sadly, I never got to see Ronald Belford perform
It can be difficult mixing and matching music styles - you just gotta let it catch your mood. Sometimes your brain or body just craves music of a particular type - and you just got to feed it!
When I listen to AC/DC it's because I want a good headbang and I just can't be bothered with more complex music.

When my son was a couple of years old... he slept thru AC/DC concerts.. and canons going off.. while in my arms on the side of the stage... with no ear plugs..
I guess it was one of the advantages of raising your kid on rock...That kid could sleep thru anything.....

I shared a room with an AC/DC fan at college. He once borrowed one of my tapes with an AC/DC track on it and would play the thing over and over ad nauseum. So I sneakily recorded a song by Adam Ant (Prince Charming) on top of it.For some reason when he came for his daily fix of AC/DC he wasn't too happy (the words he called me could not be repeated here ...well not often )

/edit: I'd just like to point out that there was a post above this one and below Richardh's which would have rendered the "dead" face more appropriate.
For those of you who missed it, it was really, really sick...
You'd have LOVED it - it was AWESOME....

Damn right - play the opening bars of Whole Lotta Rosie and watch me change from mild mannered English teacher into embarrassing 40 something headbanger (who needs to rest for 20 minutes after 5 minutes of headbanging).
The big question: why are AC/DC's single entendres and no-frills hard rock so cool, while Whitesnake's single entendres and no-frills hard rock are just sad?
