All the ingredients are there, but I struggled.

I have never gotten into them except for a couple of excellent standout tracks (carpet crawlers, watcher, salmacis, invisible touch).

Everytime I've tried listening to the Lamb i've failed.

Nursery Cryme is their ultimate Album - contains Progīs best mini-epic "The Fountain of Salmacis".

The most powerful GENESIS songs performed live were "The Knife" and "The Musical Box" back in their creative peak.
These always shook the foundations of venues by sheer GENESIS power. For those who are really interested in experiencing the GENESIS LIVE magic I recommend buying some bootlegs (certain Japanese HIGHLAND CDs are great). The Pound tour 1973-74 especially marks their best ever performances.

Trespass is their most beautiful work, very poetic and pastoral. Unique, strange dreamy yet dense sound. A masterpiece second to none. And sadly Progīs most underrated album.

Foxtrot, still brilliant and just perfect (flawless). "Supperīs Ready" was another powerhouse epic and really showcased their live magic, band loved to play it and audiences always waited for it... and got it almost every time.

You may see a smile on Tony Banksī face but thatīs unlikely.

Me too!..  They have a number of good tracks on that album!!...Too good IMHO!!!!!!Smile

Could not quite get into Lamb like their other albums.  The tracks on Lamb seem to lack character IMHO as after 20 minutes of play time was bored to death!!  Not sure why?  As most Genesis fans rate this quite highly.  I have all the Genesis collection and although I don't rate this album as good, its not their worst,  in fact the last album they did was very strained!!...

Best Genesis album in a 5.1 mix is 'Seconds out'
Runner up would be A Trick of the Tail against Duke. Can't decide.
Both are so damn good in this sonic codec.
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

A Trick of the Tail by far. It's the album that made me a Genesis fan in the first place.

I always have that problem.

Nursery Cryme has my two favorite songs

a) Musical Box
b) Fountain of Salmacis

But Foxtrot is flawless

BTW: Very shakey, but here is Fountain Live by Hackett a couple weeks ago in Lima

Can't do much better with a cel phone.

Always a good idea. The "extra" or non LP tracks added, or in some cases replacing the original ones give the albums a new and possibly more correct vision. You get a more um, album experience rather than the heh, compromise of the initial release.

Play with history because what you learned is not all you could ever know.

SEBTP, though I rarely listen to Genesis these days
While that is my favorite, it doesn't have any of my top 5 Genesis tracks (although it probably occupies most of 6-10), which would be, in no particular order, except the first one Tongue

Musical Box
Carpet Crawlers
Lamia
Watcher of the Skies
Entangled
