Bushman's Revenge - Bushman's Fire (2016)
My first listen to this, the most anticipated release of the year, as far as I'm concerned. How exciting it is to hear an album from a concert you self attended! Joined by Kjetil Møster on sax and David Wallumrød on organ at the Oslo Jazz Festival back in '14, they were on fire that night, and this translates amazingly to the album format. Cranking this baby up to eleven, the neighbour's Sunday peace be damned! My only disappointment with it is that it's so short, because of Rune Grammofon's unwillingness to release live albums in other formats than vinyl, and therefore has to fit the material to that format, which in this case leads to having less than 45 minutes of the more than an hour long concert (if I remember correctly) making it onto the record. Aside from that this might rival Ulver's ATGCLVLSSCAP as my AOTY.

Bushman's Revenge - Jazz, fritt etter hukommelsen (2016)
First listen. After the fiery explosion that was "Bushman's Fire", this, which translates to something like "Jazz, From Memory", is something completely different, Bushman's Revenge at their jazziest and least hard-hitting. Somewhat disappointed with this, but I sense it's a grower. It'll probably also help me to appreciate this more hearing the tracks performed live in a few weeks, which will be the first time I'll hear this band perform as a trio. The only time I've heard them live before was that fiery night with Møster and Wallumrød.

First listen. Wow! This is something else than last years live release from the same tour, the underwhelming "Live at the Orpheum". A more interesting track list, better sound, much more satisfying! Leads me to question the decision to release "Orpheum" in the first place. Can't wait to see them live for the first time at the end of the month!
