oh yes... I WILL have it...

Think that 10% double IPA is strong? Snake Venom, from Scottish brewery, Brewmeister, clocks in at a stomach-burning 67% ABV. Snatching the title for the world’s strongest beer, the brew is made with smoked peat malt (how Scottish of them) and both Champagne yeast and ale yeast. Now, whether it is technically a beer (the freeze concentration used to up the alcohol content pushes it more in the realm of hard alcohol) is up for debate, but it does outdo the 65% beer Brewmeister made back in 2012 that had held the championship belt.

Into Czech Pilsner Urquell at the moment.

I flit between ales and lagers, but tend to prefer lager in the summer.

Haven't tried everything on that list but I do like draught Guinness.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Honestly, I've been better by a long shot, but I'll spare life problems.....tis the beer thread after all!

I'm sticking with the dark brews these days as I've discovered that lighter colored lagers, pales, give me a headache quite consistently.  Darks do not.  It appears there are other people who get this too so it must have to do with something in the production process.

Life is a bitch, only cured by the gorgeous Coles Crwr Blasus, of which I will be leaving the house to partake in two pints at the local now. It is brewed at The White Hart, Llanddarog, and is, as it states, tasty ale. Get some in if you can. You will enjoy.

Good to see you back, old chap

First time trying this brewing company and beer, Weyerbacher Merry Monks a Belgian Style Tripel Ale - Very nice.  I can see why the Monks are Merry at 9.3%!  Chilling on the deck with the cats who love it when we sit out here and listening to Anderson / Stolt Invention of Knowledge....Merry Monks is appropriate.

^ Thanks Jim!  Can't complain, but we still do....a lot to take care of.  Fifteen miles as the crow flies from the nearest city, Raleigh...if you consider that a city.  My favorite spot when the weather permits for a beer/wine or an occasional  cigar.  In front of the house is a different world, a very busy highway.

Nice deck indeed. I love to have a beer on my deck too, though I haven't been taking good care of the garden/ yard this last year. I have a dying hedge due to insufficient watering -- the garden was beautiful when I bought the house three years ago.

Me right now:

It's a very nice stout. It's become cold and wet here over the last week, and is a nice one to have for the weather.

Quite often the same, and I commonly get gastric pain from lighter brews. I've had some problems from some darks as well -- can have to do with the fermentation process and additives in various beers (especially cheaper and generic people drink to get pissed on ones). When I was 15 my doctor put me on a stout diet, best (and only) diet I've ever been on.
